Carrerahill Posted Wednesday at 09:05 Posted Wednesday at 09:05 I am looking for some recommendations for a concealed cistern, I already have the bathroom suite but decided I was not spending £150 on the cistern they had in the showroom. I was on a commercial site inspection a few weeks ago and had a look at the cisterns going in behind the wall panels - they were Ideal Standard Concela 3 - looked decent, well made, good commercial option - I also took the IPS off the wall at work and had a look and we have Viva Sanitary Skylo which I can order through Amazon or B&Q for about £33. I see other options like Nuie etc, Flomasta. Don't get me wrong, I am a brand guy, I like good brands, Bosch, Miele, Samsung etc. I buy OEM car parts, quality professional grade tools, MK sockets, Schneider consumer units, Prysmian cable - I am that guy, but when it comes to something like a concealed cistern, I do question just why I should give some of these top brands 3-4 times more for something. I know there are issue with cheap ones delivering poor flush volumes and slow refill, but the Viva one above at work is spot on - does the job, good flush and fast refill and seems OK - £33! Can anyone give me some real-life, hands on experience with some of the other cheaper makes - I need to order something soon.
Spinny Posted Wednesday at 18:57 Posted Wednesday at 18:57 Have a TECE concealed cistern waiting to be fitted so can't comment on any direct experience of it. But on paper looks good and allows the flush volume to be adjusted and provides for a double flush. Cant recall the price but not likely a budget option. Full maintenance through the flush cover plate. Depends what features you want, and on ease of maintenance through the flush plate I guess. I do have a simple cheap plastic cistern on one toilet which is easily maintained by scoring through the right secret grout lines to then remove the worktop above for full access to maintain.
Benpointer Posted Wednesday at 19:41 Posted Wednesday at 19:41 We ended up with TECE cisterns. Quality seems very good - no issues in operation, very quiet. Instructions are those awful wordless pictograms so sub-optimal but just about workable.

TECE do look very good from a quick Google, but are overpriced for what they are I think - also don't appear readily available.

Post a link to the one you can get for £80, as there are different heights and variants. I’ve been fitting Geberit for nearly 25 years, with not so much as a murmur. Fantastic quality and unmatched longevity. Recently installed some Roca ones, very difficult to work on to access internal gubbings 👎

I had to change a seal in a concealed cistern it is very clever that this is possible through the flush plate.....and it works well again. Part was easy to get and reasonable cost too. The instructions are good too . But my hands are too big/ my clumsiness, and I dropped a small plastic fixing that is then inaccessible, and I had to improvise. I will buy Roca again though.
