allthatpebbledash Posted yesterday at 20:03 Posted yesterday at 20:03 In the image below they’ve managed to install sockets without any of the wires on show. The socket back box I assume has been fitted into the bricks by cutting a hole. But what about the wiring. How can you achieve this look. Have they ran the cables behind the wall as in the cavity? Is this allowed with insulation in the cavity, on what looks like an external wall. Thanks.
Super_Paulie Posted yesterday at 20:53 Posted yesterday at 20:53 Could be a fake wall I guess. Or could have ran the cable along the mortar lines and then repointed? It would still be within wiring zones by the looks of it. I went the conduit route myself.
Russell griffiths Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Be careful looking at pictures not in the uk, it’s easy to find an idea that would be very hard to replicate with our regs and building methods. 1

As a former photographer I would say that the image above is AI or photoshop created (which was around a lot more than people realised for a lot longer - IKEA catalogues for example). They haven't correctly adjusted the perspective on the sockets and it just looks 'wrong' to me. So I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about how it has been done in practical terms - because it hasn't. It isn't real. Edited 14 hours ago by Square Feet to add photo 2
allthatpebbledash Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Here’s a link to the project on the architects website. It is a real project in the UK. They’ve done this on a few of their projects. I’ve seen it on few other UK based projects from London architects. Just trying to work out how they’re achieving this. https://www.fletchercranearchitects.com/tree-house-architect-ealing-london

But can’t get around the rustic look of conduits everywhere.
torre Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I'd guess brick slips, based on other photos where the ceiling joists meet the brickwork at heights that don't match the coursing. Have you tried asking the architects? They'd probably just tell you. I wouldn't want to run cables in the cavity.
Super_Paulie Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago straight up (or down) from the edge/corner within 150mm zone and then horizontal to the switch. Then repointed. ?
Roundtuit Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Nah...looks off to me too. More like an a 'artist's impression', particularly as one of the kitchen above-counter sockets appears double-up through the photo montage... 1
