Jonny Posted Wednesday at 20:16 Posted Wednesday at 20:16 Hello all, Whilst I've been on the site a while, I thought I would introduce myself and the new exciting (to me) project that we are at the very early stages of. After the fun and games of the purchase process, we are now the proud owners of a barn in Cornwall and today, we have also received our class Q notice. The barn now has permission to convert, a secondary class Q and we are in the midst of a redesign to go back for full planning permission under betterment. As you can see from the photos, a fair bit of work is needed.. But we feel very lucky to be in this position. Current status is that the previous tenants (Rams) have been evicted and we are moving on to getting utilities to the site! I will probably start a blog if I find the time! May the fun begin! 6
BotusBuild Posted Wednesday at 20:30 Posted Wednesday at 20:30 Welcome and good luck with the conversion. I trust through top half of that internal wall is being replaced 😁

Gone West Posted yesterday at 08:27 Posted yesterday at 08:27 Welcome to the forum. I hope you are able to achieve what you want with the Planners. Looks like a lovely site.
Omnibuswoman Posted yesterday at 08:36 Posted yesterday at 08:36 Welcome Jonny. Looks like an exciting project. I found Cornwall planning dept to be very reasonable and pragmatic. Good luck with your application. There is a wealth of encouragement and information here in the Buildhub forum - now is a good time to have a read back over previous posts/threads before things start to get too busy for you!
saveasteading Posted yesterday at 08:55 Posted yesterday at 08:55 That looks familiar. We kept as much as we reasonably could, otherwise it's just another newbuild. Did retaining anything said money? If it is hands on then yes as you can pause and adapt. If using mostly outside designers and main contractors then no...
Kelvin Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Congratulations looks a beautiful site. Look forward to seeing how it develops.
Jonny Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Thank you all! 5 hours ago, SteamyTea said: You have some trees, rare for the North Coast. We are lucky to have some upright trees around us! Whilst in principle I would love to retain as much as possible, realistically there is a fair amount that needs attention. See examples below.
BotusBuild Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Retain and re-use the stone where you can if you end up rebuilding. We had to chop a walnut tree down. It is now our breakfast bar 🙂
