Pocster Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Was touch clammy on the leak spots this morning . So decided to tip carefully 2 watering cans of water over just the roof seams . Hour later no evidence of a drip . Hosed just the bottom 25cm of the render - so testing that stone joint and the roof seams again . Hour later no evidence of additional water ingress …. Going to try hosing the entire corner but not over the coping stone . Potentially as the coping stone is twice weathered water could run off in both directions .
Pocster Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Zero water ingress as far as I can tell . So … need to look at that coping stone - the other side !
Pocster Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Hmmmmm Some gaps . So I guess in theory when I hose the wall and coping stone it could run down this side - track under pass the drip channel . There are gaps - so will mix some cement and fill them
Pocster Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Really want a better way to finish that edge - some form of flashing ???

Pocster Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 (edited) Bone dry today as expected inside . Just hosed the entire corner making sure it spills over the coping stone . Will wait 10 mins . Check inside . If dry will repeat . Edited May 1 by Pocster
Pocster Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 Was dry so repeated the soaking . Problem is just sweat on my fingers makes it tricky ! Will check inside in 10 mins
Big Jimbo Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Stick your hand in a bag of flour. Shake off, then stick your finger in the hole. The flour will pick up any moisture and show easily. 1

SteamyTea Posted May 2 Posted May 2 14 hours ago, Big Jimbo said: Yeah, but it does work.....As does the talc. Does it work with Vim, or cocaine?
Big Jimbo Posted May 2 Posted May 2 @SteamyTea I think that Vim might be a bit gritty, and if you have a bag of cocaine big enough to stick your hand in, it's doubtful that you care about trying to find a small leak. Although depending on your supply, the cocaine could well have quite a high content of Vim in it anyway. 1 1
Pocster Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 Hosed the corner this morning. Made the tinniest damp area appear . So small it didn’t even form a droplet of water . So a bit more investigation required .
Pocster Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Been hosing that corner like it’s the end of the world . Many times a day since Friday . Yet to reproduce any leak at all ! . Not 100% convinced yet but …… getting there …… 3

Pocster Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 Bummer ! Still leaks ! Considerably less though . That corner is bone dry so not there . i did notice this though … when the sun comes and it’s dry going to hose just that bit
Pocster Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 (edited) Clearly any of that wall is an issue as it sits on the slab . So I’ll fill more of those gaps but that doesn’t mean a hairline gap couldn’t open up . Might put a line of ct1 right in that edge I.e where the coping stone meets the wall stone . Over the entire wall , both sides .Think I’ll need to inspect the wall every year for any vulnerabilities…. Edited May 11 by Pocster 1
Pocster Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Filled all those tiny gaps . Had rain , still leaks ! Nothing else visually obvious to check !!
Pocster Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Would an infra red camera help ??? - so I could try to track it
Andehh Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Have you looked at YouTube for possible solutions for leak tracking like this? Otherwise a very hot day, try and let everything warm up, then cold cold water and a thermal camera?? Random idea! 1
Pocster Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 It’s all dried out . So , as it’s sunny decided to shower a section a day with the hose for 2 minutes . 1st section done , now wait …
Pocster Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 No leak on that section . So will do the wall part before that I.e roughly 3 coping stones worth of. Work my way back to my corner . Then if still no leak work across that part of front wall towards the gate . I hose each section for 2 minutes ….
MPH243 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 You might find 2 minutes is not enough to get a small amount of water to get where you want it, maybe 10 min on spray. Try to replicate rain as splash zone will be included. I am sure you will get this eventually. 2
