MCS and heat pumps next? Wouldn’t it be better if .gov just stopped trying to micro-manage? It’s obviously crap at it.

Please can they only stop after I’ve had my ASHP grant.  Pretty please.

If there was no grant I think they would struggle to sell HPs

Big time.

We are committed to be good to the planet as best we perceive it with  modicum of balance.  But add £7.5k to our current budget and that would hurt.  And whether or not that is the reality that is how I think it's perceived.

It’s good deal

Though I suspect HP installer would drastically cut the quotes if there was no BUS

What nonsense. You need DHW however you heat. So assuming a system boiler

Cylinder needed for both gas or ASHP - zero cost.

Central heating needed, UFH is the obvious choice for any new build, no radiators taking up wall space. UFH same for both ASHP and gas. By default you end up with same plumbing.

ASHP or good WC system boiler, pretty much the same price, so no idea where the £7.5k uplift in costs comes from.

Vitodens 200-W 11kW System Boiler can be around £2k (recommended price over £3k), Daikin 5kW ASHP £2k.

Funny thing they come out at the same cost.

Unless you design out this bit with a little bit of physics at the design stage.

Our single A2A is purring in the hallway and the house is nice and warm.
