SteamyTea Posted January 26 Posted January 26 “This will be front and centre of our Warm Homes Plan, as we work to make sure no households are let down in this way again,” Yeah right.
nod Posted January 26 Posted January 26 It’s hardly surprising The conditions and pay that there employees work under are atrocious
Alan Ambrose Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) MCS and heat pumps next? Wouldn’t it be better if .gov just stopped trying to micro-manage? It’s obviously crap at it. Edited January 26 by Alan Ambrose 1

We are committed to be good to the planet as best we perceive it with modicum of balance. But add £7.5k to our current budget and that would hurt. And whether or not that is the reality that is how I think it's perceived.

It’s good deal Though I suspect HP installer would drastically cut the quotes if there was no BUS
JohnMo Posted January 26 Posted January 26 32 minutes ago, G and J said: But add £7.5k to our current budget What nonsense. You need DHW however you heat. So assuming a system boiler Cylinder needed for both gas or ASHP - zero cost. Central heating needed, UFH is the obvious choice for any new build, no radiators taking up wall space. UFH same for both ASHP and gas. By default you end up with same plumbing. ASHP or good WC system boiler, pretty much the same price, so no idea where the £7.5k uplift in costs comes from. Vitodens 200-W 11kW System Boiler can be around £2k (recommended price over £3k), Daikin 5kW ASHP £2k. Funny thing they come out at the same cost. 1

G and J Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hmmmm. I’m hoping to get initial costings from an MCS plumber chap soon. We shall see.

And this time, at far higher cost to the taxpayer. Some things never change.

I spoke to a few people at Farnborough last weekend, and the shite is still being pedalled at an astonishing rate. "I've got a 1930's brick semi with no insulation and we're about to rip out the gas boiler and fit a heatpump......" say they. "Are you feckers-like" says I, and I then proceed to give them the reason and rational. They quickly see through the BS. So many of these subsidised jobs going in like dogshit, it's just crazy (terrifying).
