(Hopefully) a simple drainage design - but help always needed!

For our extension work, I've designed it so all the bathrooms are above one another and on the same side, to help simply the drainage.  With regard to the toilets - what's the recommendation within having multiple toilets into one waste pipe? Something to avoid...or should be fine? The drains on the outside will be in our alley way, but I'm really unsure about how many inspection chambers and rodding points.

At the end of the front garden there is currently a fairly large inspection chamber - it would be great if I could get rid of this in the new design so I can make better use of the drive.

I’m not sure exactly what you have drawn there, but none of it complies with any regs, all those blue lines need to end up in some form of inspection chamber or gulley that is accessible for unblocking purposes.

Toulouse on the same pipe. Pas de probleme. But put the I/C where the foul drain exits the house ( not one the same line as you show above)

Rodding...

Think of a packed lunch from your place on its way to meet everyone else's. Where would you put a rodding point to clear the inevtable traffic jam?  Photograph the foul drain before the trench   gets back-filled

Buy enough rods to clean la pipe.. Store them in a locked container.

Keep the key to the container where the  rods are stored round your neck. Do not lend them to your children.

Yep, that's right, I'm still bitter about it.

It would take careful timing to have more than one flush at the same time, and it wouldnt usually matter anyway.

But it must all be roddable, just in case. Also becsuse people sometimes flush things they shouldn't.

Following building regulations is best and you'd need yo be expert to do ut an alternative way.

@ToughButterCup - what about treslous?

So I've moved the I/C's - but I'm wondering if it would be possible for one water drain for the ground floor, from the kitchen to the basin in the WC.

I had my first trader (bricky) over yesterday and he mentioned there may be difficulty in getting an inspection chamber in place because of the available space. Between the outside wall and the neighbours wall will be our alley way of approx 850mm width.  I've had a look through Document H and couldn't find anything specifically about IC and how close they can be to a wall.

I was also looking at Diagram 8 and for clarity, as the distance of the new drainage will be less than 1m from the footing, how much lower does the new drainage than the footing? This also seems contradict some posting I've seen that say the footing should at least go to the lowest part of the drain pipe.

Have you asked the BCO to attend to get input from them? In certain adverse conditions they will allow a deviation from “written law” and allow you to then demonstrate that it functions well / is reliable in operation, and then sign you off.

What is in the bible is often difficult to achieve (to the letter) in real life and in every situation, especially if it’s a retro-fit / alteration.

Speak to them and get their input on what will / won’t be acceptable.
