Snog, Marry Avoid - Polyfilla / Toutpret : pre-mixed , powder. Which?

Recommended Posts

Grandchildren, toy cars, small tricycles, swords, shields, stolen granddad tools and walls don't go together too well.

In conjunction with the holes I made when putting in the stairs and the juliet balconies,  there's a wall-hole filling fest.

At the moment, I'm reduced to sieving Pollyfilla and Toutpret before mixing it. Maybe I should use pre-mixed.

I know. Lets ask the wall-hole expert @Pocster .... which do you use, son?

What size and depth of hole?

If you are not in a hurry, I would use Gyproc Pro Mix lite, jointing filler, BUT (hence not in a hurry) if anything more than a very thin skim it take ages to set.  And handy if you have a tub, but mot something you are likely to go out and buy as it only comes in huge tubs.  But once set it is easily sanded and painted.

Questions questions questions.....

Well some are deep and some aren't. Most are the results of corners of objects hitting the wall at speed. Shallow . Sometimes me chasing out a line up to a light 10mm , others 360mm or so where I've drilled a hole for the s\s Juliet rods. There's about a 1mmor 0.5mm gap all the way round.

Okay, I've been having good luck with Toupret Interior filler mixed to their instructions. If you're only doing small quantities a silicone mixing bowl does make cleanup easier. Have you got filling knives?

This stuff.

It won't do huge holes, and may need a second hit for a deep one but it finishes well and seems to last for ages in the bucket.

lol - I remember that night “ fill and finish “ ; also the screams of “ it won’t do huge holes “ …

i like gyproc easi fill 60 but its a powder you have to mix up.

these are good

Silverline Body Filler Application Set 4 Pcs - Screwfix

just sand the sharp corners off them if your a novice.

the screwfix own brand filler in the small tubs is decent. my entire living room is basically crafted out the stuff as the mongs that lived here before seemed to love using drawing pins to attach Christmas decorations and cards all over the walls so they were full of small holes.

i also like these

Fast Mover Tools, Foam Hand Sanding Block, Soft, 150mm : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

with mirka gold DA discs.

but if you have a DA with extract then use abranet discs on it.

As soon as I posted it I regretted the level of smut I had sunk to. Clearly you've rubbed off on me.
