Lesgrandepotato Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 So we are going to install a 500l thermal store into the utility room. This will create quite a bit of heat I suspect and it would be good to spread this round the building. In fact next to the utility is the integral garage which is full insulated - 60mm internal insulted PB, triple glazing and an insulated garage door. Would it be mad to put a single room mvhr system between these rooms to gentle heat the garage with the excess heat from the the TS?
ProDave Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I suspect there may be a fireproofing issue, effectively having a garage and the house linked by ducting through what is supposed to be a fireproof wall. Perhaps if you had a fire alarm and fire dampers?

I very much doubt will be cost effective
Stones Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 If having a heated garage is important, why not fit the TS in there instead?
Lesgrandepotato Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 Both good observations! I shall ponder further!
ToughButterCup Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 And from memory, there's a good amount of space in your garage (it's about the size of our house) : easy drain down, easy maintenance......
Lesgrandepotato Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 as long as it doesn't encroach over the french windows that could be neat. I suspect the plumber maybe less than enamoured at this development! It is only on the other side of the wall though

Nickfromwales Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Fwiw, with hydro covering your losses id deffo put it in the garage, and I'd also install a hot return loop so your not waiting for hot water at the taps.
