So we are going to install a 500l thermal store into the utility room. This will create quite a bit of heat I suspect and it would be good to spread this round the building. In fact next to the utility is the integral garage which is full insulated - 60mm internal insulted PB, triple glazing and an insulated garage door. Would it be mad to put a single room mvhr system between these rooms to gentle heat the garage with the excess heat from the the TS?

I suspect there may be a fireproofing issue, effectively having a garage and the house linked by ducting through what is supposed to be a fireproof wall. Perhaps if you had a fire alarm and fire dampers?

purely because of the initial outlay, the idea isnt bad but it will NEVER pay for itself, 

 

a few hit and miss vents may not be a bad idea but actually pumping the excess heat into a garage. I very much doubt will be cost effective

If having a heated garage is important, why not fit the TS in there instead?

And from memory, there's a good amount of space in your garage (it's about the size of our house) : easy drain down, easy maintenance......

as long as it doesn't encroach over the french windows that could be neat. I suspect the plumber maybe less than enamoured at this development! It is only on the other side of the wall though

Fwiw, with hydro covering your losses id deffo put it in the garage, and I'd also install a hot return loop so your not waiting for hot water at the taps.
