ToughButterCup Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Right next to the sink, within splashing range? So just for the Hell of it , I connected SWMBO hair dryer. I survived. Ok, that's a pity. But... How is it that almost every German woman and every German teenager survives an electric point a few mm from the sink?
ProDave Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Standard in Australia too. Usual to have sockets right next to the shower and that is where you usually find the washing machine and tumble dryer. I told my Australian BIL that we are not allowed such things in case someone is stupid enough to plug the hairdryer in and take it into the shower with the water running. His reply (think Australian accent) "If they are that bloody stupid they deserve to die" 1 1
saveasteading Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 I thought I would look this up, as I recall reading that uk electrocution is far less bad than other countries. No luck yet but I did find this table. No further comment. Number of deaths where the underlying cause was exposure to electric current by sex Also this : injuries where we shrug and say it was always going to happen: Since these incidents are so common, there is a higher risk of fatalistic injuries.
