VIDEO Update - Self Build Holiday Lodge Scotland

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

Here is a little video update:

Thanks again to everyone from e-build and this website for all your advice and guidance! The project would definitely not be to the same standard if I hadn't taken everyones advice and pushed the standards of the build.

You'll be pleased with how it looks.  Did you end up using Sioo on the cladding?

We did indeed! Really pleased with the results. Self applied on the fascias. Factory applied on the walls. Much better results on the fascias!

Did you apply several coats to the fascias? How much of a difference do you see in the cladding from when fitted? Almost a year on, I'm amazed how much colour our cladding retains.

Erm 3 coats treatment and one coat protector. The fascias have basically bleached silver, really fast!

The cladding which was factory treated - that arrived on site pretty much orange in colour. My mother actually rejected about 1/3 because it had knots and we paid for A grade 6m lengths. We got delivered 60% 2 - 4m lengths. We rejected all the corner trims as they were riddled with knots. Cladding came to about £8,000.00 or something. Dad way over ordered though so we have tons left for a summer house... or my cabin :P
