Quick hello from Oxford

We bought a semi-detached in East Oxford that needed a lot of work... so much work that it has turned into a rebuild! Only the front wall, party wall, and part of the side wall are being retained.

Aiming to turn it into an open plan, passive house, plenty of light, ASHP, MVHR, underfloor heating and solar. Having to learn a lot about materials, insulation, damp, building regs etc. Steep learning curve!

Don't forget the passive cat-flap.

Interesting project.  I wonder how much you paid?  If it is that bad you should have paid building plot price, not habitable house price, but arguably there is not much difference in Oxford.

Any prospect of rebuilding it detached, even if only by a small distance?

Current clients had to buy a crappy bungalow and knock it down to build over ( Headington ). Seems there's not much about there plot-wise that I've seen when driving to merchants / digs etc, but a lot of poor efforts that could benefit from knocking down :)

Looks like you went that route. Have you had to retain / reuse the foundations? A PITA to get a good detail for insulation etc when you're stuck with 'what's there'?
