Ho ho ho - the joys of landlording.

I have a T who at the end of a tenancy has left the oven door handle removed from the oven, with no screws in sight to put it back on.

Does anyone know what screws I am likely to need to reattach the thing? Some sort of machine screw?

It is a modest Lamona (ie Howden's own brand).

I have a query in with Autumn at my local Howdens, but I wondered if we had any BH geniuses.

I would expect them to be sort of M5/M6 machine screws or something.

If it is just a modest oven it could also just be in with self-tappers into plastic or metal.

You must join the club of salvagers of handy screws. These things tend to be fairly universal so you need a tin of screws.

Seriously, I find 9/10 that I have just the thing.

And keep it in the kitchen 'useful draw'.

What I do is go to my boxes of screws to find one that fits the thread in the handle. Measure it with vernier calipers to find the thread diameter. Then put the screw through the hole in oven door to see if enough threads stick out to go into the handle. If not use vernier calipers to measure depth of hole and add enough extra to go into the handle. Then I discover Screwfix doesnt have one that length so I end up buying another assorted box of different length screws from Amazon 😞
