NotJustin Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Hi all, I just got a cherry picker and the batteries are knackered. I'm only going to use is directly around the building and always on mains. I read I can replace the two 6v batteries with one leisure battery. Does anyone know if the largest Halfords battery is good enough? Thanks for any ideas, cheers, Justin
Russell griffiths Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I would go to a local battery specialist, and ask there opinion.
dpmiller Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 take the battery dimensions to your local motor factors.
Russell griffiths Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Why do you want to change battery type, have you had a price and it scared the?out of you. I generally find a lot of research went into the manufacturing process, so unless they are silly money, put back in original equipment.
NotJustin Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 I knew how much the batteries cost, but I just thought, why have something for a remote, in the field cherry picker, when I have mains available all the time for it. I'll never need to use it stand alone.
ProDave Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Does it work plugged into the mains then? If so why even bother replacing the batteries?
NotJustin Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 No, it doesn't get enough "go" from the mains. Actually, a friend has offered to pay for the proper batteries if he can borrow it. I'll look into genuine ones now.
NotJustin Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 Oh, I added a pic of the church I live in and the cherry picker to my hello thread:

As long as he doesn't hog it too much and it is available for when you want it.
NotJustin Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 Yeah, porbably a good arrangement. Just need to work out what batteries I need now.
Onoff Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Try County Batteries. Very helpful: https://www.countybattery.co.uk/

Onoff Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 They were recommended to me. Rohan I dealt with there I just remembered. Used a couple of times. One time I paid extra for a faster delivery but the battery got damaged in transit hence never got delivered to me. Apology, good communications and an immediate refund of the courier charge.
NotJustin Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 Yes, so far they've been very good. The only ones to come through with a recommendation for the correct batteries. Ignored or no further follow up from other companies and of course the "we'll charge extra to deliver to the Highlands" clause.

NotJustin Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 Does anyone know where I can find cherry picker maintenence guides? I'm failing to find any googling for it. Thanks.
Onoff Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 (edited) What model is it? Looks to be painted Genie blue but no stickers? Edited June 9, 2020 by Onoff
NotJustin Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 I'm not sure. I'll go and scout for model names.
NotJustin Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 Had a good examine, but I can't find any make names. What is there is rather faded. I was told I nead to grease it dailiy and oil the bushes, but, I don't really know what I'm looking at.
Reiver Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 (edited) Here's your pic with the places where the bushes are likely to be circled: the ones that need greasing will likely have nipples fitted I would think. Looks like I missed the one where the arm joins the cage ? Edited June 9, 2020 by Reiver
