HerbJ
Useful, thanks Slightly off topic, what is the best method of cleaning render? Clealry, power washing is a NO and it cannot be brushed too vigorously either! Can you offer any tips?
ProDave
Did you get a close up of the crack before and after? What if it's more of a crack and a section is delaminating?

If it more than hairline It has to be raked out into a V pretty Mick like a skimming crack filled within 5 mil Then filled proud the following day and carefully scraped flush If the render has been damaged badly we just cut a panel either side of say a window and pip a stop bead on K rend say if a repair is not noticeable from 3 mtrs It acceptable

Spray the Alga cleaner mixed 10 to 1 You need three dry days The rain will do the rest Jet-washing is fine if you are careful around the beads

HerbJ
I have used can strongly recommend Wet & Forget for algae on myrender, . It was brilliant for cleaning algae around the MVHR Exhaust vent, which I know was the subkject of a post on here a few months ago. But it doesn't really deal with dirt from raIn splashes off terracing, coping stones and borders etc

Stones
This is what I've used to clean algae off our render: https://www.mapei.com/gb/en/products-and-solutions/products/detail/silancolor-cleaner-plus Sprayed on with a small garden sprayer, gently agitated in with a paintbrush if quite heavily soiled, then leave. Two days later, all gone.
ProDave
I just use 50% bleach 50% water. Can someone tell me a reason not to use that?

scottishjohn
what is major cause of these types of cracks drying out too quick or house movement
nod
We hardly get any cracks on Krend If it’s a high suction surface you need mesh and base coat These two cracks I think are just a little bit of settlement and are just cosmetic I’ll get them to send me a photo in a weeks time If there is a larger patch like removing a window There is a K paint But you have to cover the whole panel It more of a grout than paint

Scaffolder has put a rather deep scratch in ours and I’m curious to know the best option for repairing it. Whether using the colour infill you have or does it need cutting out deeper to then refill? Would the krend colour fill be best or is my plasterer best cutting that out and putting fresh mix in as he tells me he has a spare bag of the same batch left. He doesn’t seem confident in the repair ☹️
