Good afternoon guys As per the title really, i am thinking of using one of these companies. As a bit of a sanity check on my estimates. Is there a standout 'go to' company, are they all a much of a muchness or a total waste of time? All opinions gratefully receieved as always Personal recommendations of course are great

Hi Guys I need to drill into masonary in a tight space( replace a WC cistern thats built in as it happens) so i bought the adaptor you see below. DEWALT Right Angle Drill Adaptor, 2-in-1 Attachment (DWAMRAFT) A normal round drill bit is not suitable for this. So my question is... have a screwed up or is there a drill bit that is suitable for this quick grip attachment? Thanks in advance keith

Quote for groundworks, include drainage?
Post and beam replied to Post and beam's topic in General Construction Issues
I have had conversations with my proposed groundworker that included re routing an existing foul drain that runs across my plot under my house footprint. So i regard the subject as 'discussed on site. Same conversation with the TF company contracts manager and the initial salesman. Also both while on site. As a novice to this house building lark i dont know what else i should have done to set expectations. -
Quote for groundworks, include drainage?

For those that have been through this process, i have a quote for my groundworks that makes no mention of the drainage away to the sewer. Is it usual to include drainage or to have it as a separate quote please? -

Apologies, i meant they know what order trades should be on site. I have no pre conceptions with regard to airtightness -

Thanks dude Couple of questions. I dont understand 'pre plaster inspection'. # We are having MVHR, which i intend to run the trunking for. I also expect to do much of the Airtightness tape work as well but dont want to get in the way of the first fix guys. Whats the convention here? # UFH & screed after the studwork and before any of the first fix i guess ? Also on the outside trades. Upper storey is weatherboard on the gable ends and dormers, Bricks to the lower floor with a large external chimney stack. Roof tiles will be done first of course and the glazing in. So if the brickies are next when does the guttering and the Soffits/barge boards get done. I suppose the Scaffolding stays in place after the brickies ( perhaps with a drop change) so that the weatherboarding can get done. The trades all know the form of course but if i have to schedule them i want to understand the conventions and best way to do this. -
I thought i had a builder lined up to take my house from Weathertight( Sips construction from Potton Homes) to completion but i may have missed their window. They are very busy which hopefully means they are good. So, if i now have to arrange trades on a one by one basis is there a preferred order. More importantly i guess, is there an order that would be a very bad idea? Thanks in advance keith

I have received my building regs drawings pack and cannot resolve the airtightness boundary from them. I read somewhere here that it should be clearly visible in Red on the drawings. Does anyone know if this is a requirement or just a useful way to do it please? I can see a VCL indicated but thats not the same thing is it? Thanks as always keith

When i lived on one of these the fuel would last about 5 years. So the refit period was 5 years, ish. I understand that the modern boats fuel lasts for the life of the boat. Small modular, if its suitable for PWR reactors, would perhaps not need taking away for a refuel very often. Might turn out to be a good solution.

Thats a planning and forward thinking issue. I thought we were focusing on the future climate. A challenge certainly, but not insurmountable.
