  1. Oh bloody hell. You really do get the rub of the green don't you. It'll only be the sweeter once it's finally sorted :-)
  2. Yep - I think we were, the property had received a payment holiday in the past with another owner and apparently this means we cannot have a payment holiday...
  3. I am indeed - on a day rate so I like to get a feel for just how much impact I'm creating :-)
  4. as long as it doesn't encroach over the french windows that could be neat. I suspect the plumber maybe less than enamoured at this development! It is only on the other side of the wall though
  5. Both good observations! I shall ponder further!
  6. So we are going to install a 500l thermal store into the utility room. This will create quite a bit of heat I suspect and it would be good to spread this round the building. In fact next to the utility is the integral garage which is full insulated - 60mm internal insulted PB, triple glazing and an insulated garage door. Would it be mad to put a single room mvhr system between these rooms to gentle heat the garage with the excess heat from the the TS?
  7. Interesting. We had to pay full council tax for the entire renovation as the property was not eligible for a payment holiday. Does this look inhabitable?
  8. Yep legs are about 8cm. Units only come in 200/400/600/800 widths is why you need to be clever with trim pieces :-) that space is 3860 wide so a particularly obvious space to deal with.
  9. Just the ikea regular legs on. The units were dry built and the gap measured. Then some spacers inserted to even up the gap. The oak trim is square edge 70mm * 12mm skirting board slid in to have about a 20mm left poking out then simply screwed between the units like you would normally to attach the run together. I dont like clumsy trim pieces and corner posts so I wanted it to look like it was made for the space
  10. The lights are from ablectrics in Bristol - they also have a big web shop. It's one of three. We have a lime one, an orange and the blue.
  11. Fair question, it's to do with the open plan kitchen diner living space. In essence you can cook whilst talking to people / guests. You then plate up and chuck the pots in the dishwasher. All good. You then finish the meal and want to clear again but the dishwasher is full.. if not then in an open plan space you end up looking at the detritus you would have abandoned in a separate kitchen. In most cases we won't use them both but when we need them they are there and they won't wear out any quicker!
  12. Yes, that's the plan. Couple of dishwashers in the 3.3k. Still need to sort out two ovens and a microwave. Have a quooker tap in stock for £900. Suspect we might be slightly over the 6k but wanted to prove it could be nicely finished and not break the bank :-)
  13. Seems to be coming together well. Currently at about £3300. Ikea units with an oak trim strip made from some oak skirting :-) Picking up the granite tomorrow AM hopefully we will be looking and hopefully pretty bespoke. That'll be £300 and £90 for the acrylic.
  14. Took a couple of days on our build, 4 cat5e to each location and a shotgun aerial cable. We'll break out what we need. Back to a couple of cabs in the garage. Probably 12-14 points in total. Cat 5e easier to plumb to spec than the 6's
  15. Hmm, I suspect the majority of the focus on a textual elastic search as that's what people expect these days rather than a more formalised query
  16. My initial reaction looking at that is firstly, it looks much much better that my starting point! Secondly that in my minds eye it wants to be a sort of yellowy hue on the dormered elevation and the elevation below the PV. Then the rest in a whiter tone make it more of a collection of elevations than one big one.
  17. The render may not be the problem? Our place didn't really respond to the local vernacular having a kind of eastern bloc chic thing going on in south lakeland. We have sorted some window apertures and painted it white - looks much more in keeping with the area.
  18. Anything thats hard to post is good value on eBay. Got my rayburn for £220 seven year old model!
  19. He who dares rodders!
  20. Really shouldn't have looked on eBay at granite. Loads of it on there. We are going to move ours in the veedub ratchet strapped to a couple of scaff planks to make sure it doesn't break
  21. From a mate who had a kitchen fitted and the sections didn't match. The supplier abandoned it on his site and its been waiting to be fitted for a year or so. Suspect ebay may be a treasure trove for it if you'll travel or a maybe a local fitters who take stuff out?
  22. We've gone ikea dishwashers, apparently they are made by one of the other major players. Seem decent enough so far but I've only put them in place not washed owt. The funny unit depths has been a challenge for the second hand granite. But we've got some 30mm sq acrylic bar tha we'll insert into the back of the worktop with an led strip underneath.
  23. So that's circa 3300 for units and 2 dishwashers £300 on granite £895 for the quooker fusion £215 on oak worktop £90 on solid acrylic bar £9 led ribbon £40 z wave remote controller £100 oak trim 70mm * 12mm that leaves circa 1250 to find a sink and the appliances. I'm probably a grand short but I'll settle for 7k
  24. We are fitting ikea with some custom touches - aim is to be sub 6k with granite and new appliances. 2 * oven, microwave and 2 dishwashers. One day I will have a siematic - would have been circa 21k supplied but they are lovely engineered product. Expensive, but quality is
  25. Then the figures I have given you are nigh on useless :-) good luck!
