  1. @MarvinWhat are the CT relays you speak of? What drives the relay?
  2. It would be nice if they inverter provided a set of contacts to signal when the batteries were full and then a relay could be used for the iboost.
  3. Looking at installing a battery inverter as mentioned in another thread. At the moment I run a Solar iBoost for the water heater. Obviously I do not want both CT running together trying to reroute the solar to battery storage and to the immersion heater at the same time. Has anyone got any experience of running these together? Does the inverter maybe have an output to say when batteries are full and I could run that through a relay to the iBoost?
  4. Yeah it is SWA and SP ducting but its all mine. I think I will try a fibreglass tape, it would be too many rods.
  5. The duct is one of the Scottish power 32mm (ish ones) and the cable is the same as the main incomer (20-25mm2 I think, with armour). So itll be a tough pull and a risky one if something goes wrong.
  6. I am going to have a look and see if I could get a cable fish through the electrical duct. It's tight and long so I doubt it will work but I'll try and take it from there.
  7. Unfortunately not ducted in an accessible way for the garage, an oversight. What options are there for wireless CT @Jenki?
  8. No, unfortunately my main incoming supply is in the attached garage while the existing solar is in the detached garage. Batteries will need to be near the incoming supply for the CT.
  9. At the moment I have 3.6kw solar installed in my garage. I am planning on installing some batteries and was wondering if it is possible to install a Hybrid battery inverter like this Solis one but not have any solar panels connected, so effectively have it operate as an AC coupled? This would leave me the option of adding a second solar input to it in the future. Will it behave as an AC coupled and still charge off my existing solar when it starts to export?
  10. Thanks, the ones linked are LFP. I would probably build a small enclosure with hardie backer boards or something to be safe anyway.
  11. Has anyone taken the plunge or have any experience with ordering Chinese battery storage systems? I was looking at something like this. Looks very similar to the pylontech US range. 5kw is around £1100 and 10kw around £2100, so not far off half the price.
  12. Just drill a hole, push them in and then tap in the centre rod and it spreads out and grips like a wall plug
  13. These. My PIR was seconds so some sheets were bowed so I used these to hold them down till screed was poured.
  14. That's a shame then. Can only think it's not being pulled in tight enough by the screwless clips/magnets. Just been a walk round and I am happy with mine, it's almost invisible and they helped with not pulling the faceplate into the paint when tightening.
  15. Did you install the drywall boxes before or after plastering? I put mine in before plastering to ensure there wasn't the white lip with the box sitting proud.
  16. Mine are not screwless. When snuggled down you can't tell its there at all. All my walls are white so I can't say if this would still be the case on coloured walls.
  17. The way it is worded it sounds like it's gli g from 5% to 0. In which case it will only be on installs? My understanding is that the materials need to make up for no more than 60% of the install cost to qualify for the 5% rate. Hence why we pay 20% to buy them for DIY?
  18. Yeah sorry to say you have messed up. Check page 7 of the VAT431NB form and it states: A building is normally considered to be completed when it has been finished according to its original plans. Remember that you can make only one claim no later than 3 months after the construction work is completed. The 3 months will usually run from the date of the document you’re using as your completion evidence. If your claim is late you must send us a letter explaining the delay Also, appliances wouldn't have be claimable at any point.
  19. The LOGO is quite good as you can use ladder logic or you can use it as gate logic (AND/OR/NOT etc). Drag and drop the gates, timers, counters, flags etc and it will convert to ladder. Sorry cant help with your question exactly @Bramco but no reason it wouldnt be suitable IMO
  20. I like the look of the system but it works out quite expensive if you add extra circuits on. For £150 the Emporia has the 2 main CT and 16 additional circuits. Just unsure on the cloud only storage.
  21. Yeah 5seconds is quiet long sample time I guess. I believe the Emporia is 1second.
  22. Was looking into making an arduino energy monitor for my house but came across Emporia Smart Home Energy Monitor. For £150 you get 16 CT clamps and and the wifi hub. This is probably what it would cost me in parts to do similar with arduino. Has anyone ever tried the Emporia? Only downside I can see that I am not a huge fan of is that it is all cloud based and they dont seem to offer any API.
  23. When I did it you pay a huge premium for the MSC sign off. Far better to do it yourself. I put in 3.6kw integrated. The whole kit cost approx £2000 ex VAT including the GSE in roof mounts. Using the same sort of figures as you have it will pay itself off in half the time as the MSC one. Also you can factor in the square meterage of slate saved (I would guess around £700 worth of slate saved).
  24. Normally the structural engineer will have a report stating everything like stud sizes & numbers, lintel sizes, loadings, racking strength etc. On it it should state the sheathing material and nailing centres.
  25. Not mine either, however you did suggest that the installers and plumbing trade might have little knowledge on the subject. I am suggesting to try a few and get a feel for it before pointlessly spending more on an oversized pump. Laws of thermodynamics have not changed, times have though so I'd rather let the software do it. If the builder has a heating company and you are happy with that then its fine, my point was to not simply just 'pick a big one'. Yes that is plywood. What thickness is it? Was it specified by the structural engineer?
