  1. I'd love the see the difference in running costs between A90 and A110.... maybe £20 a month? It's the ecofriendly top trumps... Who cares if you can't drive 220mph, it beats your 185mph....
  2. 150mm is fine, 100mm risks the bend radius being a real headache!
  3. Thanks Peter, Is there a general preferred product on Buildhub? We have ASHP, and a 300L cylinder with 3.99kw of solar panels... I'm still leaning to installing one even though a second coil is apparently needed in the cylinder for the solar diverge? (1st coil being for the immersion I presume?)
  4. Oh yeah, but £150 on a new epc calculator will resolve that. Likely to take a couple of weeks, they're all busy with the new regs changes....
  5. Listen to this guy, he gets it. Life is too short to worry about this....!!! Overboard, and within a couple of weeks all is forgotten.
  6. 200mm PIR spec'd in roof is really significantly more then regs, especially on a refurb.... That alone doesn't seem right to me!! Get 40mm (ish) Insulated plasterboard over boarded and get on with life!!
  7. you can buy large bags of eps beads on ebay etc - hopefully someone more clued up will be able to comment on risk of mixing insulation types, but I probably would...
  8. Thanks very much all, western red cedar looks to be the one we need to go for! @Russel - are you able to recommend any suppliers? Or advice on obtaining it? Thanks
  9. Much better idea, ours will be the same... Prob should have lead with that recommendation myself!
  10. We have quite large over hangs on our white render, black windows, modern bungalow. Some of them are 1.8m, others 80cm and the rest 30cm....so they are quite a feature. The colour scheme/style we really like is below, but we are struggling on how to achieve this effect or what colours/stains we should be looking at. Our build has costed in for pine t&g boards for u to colour...but we have never done this before so are hoping for any tips or advice?
  11. Could do something fancy with an internal opening door into it, then use the door as hanging space or small shelve storage? For shoe room...
  12. I would want internal door/internal room. Especially if fuse box would go there as well?
  13. Thanks MrMagic, is that a confident date or one likely to be shunted back? Any thoughts on it as a product vs previous Samsung? Thanks again
  14. +1 for timed electric oil rad. Electric UFH can be pricey to run, though if installation is free (DIY) and materials cheap.. Could be worth a go!
  15. One we are looking out for, having originally planned to install a Samsung Gen6! Seems to have been released last week, so frustrating few details out there. Anyone else in a similar situation? EHS Mono, R32, High Temperature & Low Noise, Heat Pump | AE120BXYDEG/EU | Samsung Business UK
  16. Yeah, had it in our last Bovis homes new build, I thought it was guttering/plastics that were black expanding & shrinking with the heat.
  17. Thanks, that looks lovely! What wood did you use, how did you get that colour?
  18. £180/sqft sounds pretty spot on to me for an average spec, we had £186sqft quoted this time last year for our Bungalow, for an average spec. We did have a 'keen' builder due to a large cancellation he was recovering from. No fees included (add 10%...) but that is for full turnkey project management and a small demolition & clearance. Middle of England. A lot of people on this forum do a lot of work themselves, so take it with a pinch of salt when people quote their own prices. I would assume £2000/sqm for a straight forwards two story place, and any saving from that would be impressive. That is for an average spec, so high end windows, steels, MVHR etc will add to this. Sorry to hear about the Knotweed, self build is always a long game & one that does require more resilience & patience then you are told....
  19. We have family with Ufh, spread plates, 22mm hardie floor, then 15mm engineer wood and they also need to run at 50 degrees for an effective heating solution. Over 80mm PIR. Renovation property so insulation is only 'good'.
  20. That looks OK That looks good, have you got any more pics of that timber cladding on the underside of the apex?
  21. What slips are you going with?
  22. As long as there is an uninterrupted barrier for damp blocking, you will be fine.
  23. Thanks all, got the architect and builder looking into it, the storage platform angle is a good one I'll be trying for.... I will report back! Thanks
  24. Watching with interest, though sorry I can't help myself. Why the neutral wire?
  25. Thanks for the feedback guys!
