You have been asking all the questions, I have been taking the answers 😬 Only 9 months in 😉

Hopefully have all the steel finished tomorrow. Treads will be oak, 275 x 112 with glass, will be a while before they are done though. My build is probably on the same timeline as yours 😂😉

eBay is a flat out waste of time nowadays! Paypal will refund your money as the item is faulty, guarantee the seller won’t reply if you contact them.

Do you need to stagger plasterboard
Eric replied to Eric's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Thanks @TonyT, makes it easier & saves waste. I wasn’t sure if they needed to be staggered for finishing but should almost be a better finish not having them staggered 🤔 I presume that I can get them locally, some arrived with the kit for another part of the house so worst case I can use them & order others. -
I have a hallway ceiling to plasterboard on a new build, it is 2.7m wide & 7m long. can I use 2.7m sheets & in a row without staggering them? Pros & cons?

I have a hallway ceiling to plasterboard, it is 2.7m wide by 7m long, can I just use 2.7m sheets inline or do I need to stagger them?
-
Have you got any photos of this? I will need lights in the near future for vaulted ceilings.

Looking for advice on how to frame two triangles to meet the block work on a timber frame kit, once framed I will be fitting Fermacell board which will then be rendered.
-
That’s the stuff that I am using 👍🏻

@Russdlno installation instructions but I don’t have the windows on site, I presume they will be with them.
-
We are maxed out & couldn’t afford their fitted price but I know what you are saying.
-
Yeah it was silver, which is only install support so my joiners are fitting them.
-
Thanks @Conor We paid for “installers” but apparently they just show up for 1.5 days & help / give advice etc.

We will be installing Internorm windows & doors in the next few weeks, just wondering if others have used compriband & expanding foam or just foam on its own then air tight tape. Windows are uPVC aluminium clad into timber frame kit.

Yes sir, everyday that I am off. Creating an air gap and insulating between rafters with 100 + 70mm celotex.

MVHR proposed layout - looking for advice.

I will have loft space but would rather have less of the ducting in the cold loft, just personal preference. -
MVHR proposed layout - looking for advice.
Eric replied to Eric's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Thanks @Nickfromwales For bedroom 1 if I was to have 2 terminals would you suggest single or double runs for these or as the drawing, 1 double & 1 single? -
Here is an MVHR layout that I have received, I would like any feedback if possible. New 1.75, 375m2 build. I think the lounge should just have 1 terminal with double pipe. No terminals in the hall. The extracts in the kitchen should both be double pipe. Bedroom 1 has a vaulted ceiling so would prefer just 1 terminal for this also. edit, all of the first floor are JJI joists, the kitchen/family room have had access hoses cut in them prior to installation as they are 400mm centres.

Just wondering what people have done for temporary lights for a new build? Tripod type / daisy chain etc photos would be great for inspiration 🙂

The steel portal frame is integrated with the timber frame, this is simply to support 4” blocks.
-
This is for the block work, there is a steel portal frame for the slider. I am looking for advice for a steel beam/lintel to support the 4” blocks above the 5m sliding door.
-
I will soon require a steel lintel to go above a 5m sliding door. 1 & 3/4 storey Scotframe timber kit blocked in. Do I need to ask a SE about this or is there a fairly straightforward solution?

Internorm are 25 weeks for aluclad upvc now, mine were ordered in may.
