  1. Anyone got one ? . Wondering if it’s worth it ? In theory ; performance vs cost it should be .
  2. I’m only going to initially do that one side . I can’t do up to the glass as that is in the roof / floor . So just in the ceiling void . Maybe 30 cm by 60cm - something like that . Probably though buy 1 whole 25mm sheet
  3. It’s a plan .
  4. I’ll rephrase … “ I’m past the celotex stage “
  5. Of course I have no celotex so late in my build . All those off cuts skipped - typically 🫤 Will let it get worse first 🤣
  6. That’s kind of what I’m asking . Should I celotex the area on the upstand in the light well ? . Can just about get my hands in there …
  7. Not an issue yet . Roof light well is tile backer board with foil backed ceiling tile stuck to it . Ceiling had to be fire resistant tiles ( just a fibre glass backing ) Whilst not a major issue yet can only assume will get worse . I could get this tile out - but then what ? . Try and ‘line’ in the Lightwell backside ? . Cover back of replacement tile in foil ???
  8. Oi ! (expletive deleted)er !
  9. Like I made any errors…….. ☺️
  10. Changed my mind to an o droid m1
  11. @joe90 ; been so careful but missed this until I put the door on and swore ….
  12. Did a major (expletive deleted) up . Missed the fact a cupboard door couldn’t open as hitting a corner plinth . Solution ? - move all the wall units back 18mm - (expletive deleted) that ! Company can have a custom corner plinth made that’s 18mm narrower …. Phew !
  13. Gone for home assistant green as an out of the box solution . Did consider some kind of NUC . Had 2 modern i7 Nucs before ( mame and homeseer ) - both failed out of warranty 😕 I could offload my ip camera stuff to my Synology nas ( been rock solid ) but resent paying a license for cameras
  14. Does that matter ? . The mesh just rebuilds anyway . What I mean is ; even if the zigbee mesh stays intact no HA processing is going to happen until home assistant is back up. Or is it you’re simply trying to minimise the ‘down’ time ?
  15. Didn’t know about the edge tpu . For my cameras I don’t really need ( yet ! ) any advanced object detection / ML - just standard zone / masking for movement. I use that to control lighting ; far better than 20 movement sensors in a room . Really want to bin my windows based system . So slowly migrating across is the plan . All must happen without SWMBO noticing !!!
  16. Thanks . That’s handy to know . Do you find home assistant stable ? Homeseer on windows always has issues when windows decides it’s update time . What’s the advantage of zigbee2mqtt over just home assistant seeing zigbee devices ? I also use blue iris - really good but again windows based . I believe an “ equivalent “ is frigate ???

Yep . It’s all very trendy
  18. Considering migrating away from homeseer ( always hated it running in windows )to home assistant green . Want to move over zigbee devices 1 at a time - so I can test and be confident. This doable ? . Any home assistant people here ? Thinking to try node red

I think the way this design works is really clever . Live cables ( support cables ) roll over a metal wheel . So you just pull , cut to suit . Metal wheel each side acts as conductor . But like GhostBusters - don’t cross the beams .
  20. SWMBO got a present from the postman once …

I’ve not seen one like this before . I’ve only seen support cables AND then a power cable . This unit seems to achieve both in 1 cable at each end . There were zero instructions chinglish or otherwise .

Well - I’m going to do it anyway !

Got one of these . Where it appears the support cables are actually live off the led dimmer . I suspect this as a cable touched the metal housing and gave me a nice spark . The cables are much too long . No obvious built in method to shorten them . As the support cable is the power cable presume I can cut and wago ( connector is in the ceiling so not visible ) - basically cut to length . Yeah ?
  25. Erm , ummm - I’ll get back to you on that …
