  1. Misleading title causing click bait - should be banned
  2. I find mvhr invaluable. zero mould / moisture issues air is fresh also ; look at the pollution removed …
  3. My recipe !!! in a mixer it’s half a bag of cement and a bag of sand ( or 2 halves of different sand ) . At least that kind of ratio . Water to suit . Tbh I just judge it on eye and stick a trowel in the mixer to guage it ( no pun intended ) . Bucket wise though . Erm a good glug of cement a double glug of sand and see what happens . Mine always turns out hard and so does my cement
  4. Absolutely! If it’s a damp day or hot - all make a big difference! When I started my build I bought an electric mixer - much easier to be consistent. I became a pro . Back to the bucket mixing ( doing some today actually ) it will be Lady Luck I’ll be looking for
  5. Mixing cement is a magic art . As you say sometimes it’s spot on other times it’s like you’ve never mixed it before . Cement mixing basically represents life in general …
  6. You guys ! if ONLY everyone hadn’t laughed at me buying a Tesla powerwall 2 all those years ago ! Moaning about payback time but not factoring increased future electricity costs. Ahhhh 😊
  7. Because water is still running over the slab and just pop out somewhere else is what worries me .
  8. Not heard of that - but guess what I’m going to look at now !
  9. Yeah couldn’t login . Pornhub was ok though .
  10. What about tarmacing that entire section of the lane ? Just trying to come up with plan b , c , d ……
  11. Yeah I know . I’ve got a bag of cold tarmac I can stick ontop . If this works and it doesn’t leak what should I fill it with ? . I did put fibres in with the sand / cement mix to reduce chance of cracking ….
  12. Just onto the roof .
  13. @crispy_wafer Works finished for the day as its 3pm So this is the glass unit above ground . Coloured line is leak side . The trench I’ve dug is otherside of the wall . That crap ground was coincidentally directly parallel to the window . Fingers crossed I guess !!
  14. No . Upstand doesn’t leak . upstand is timber . Roof above is not leaking - tested this . Hard too see in the photo but the slab has a slight crack it after pouring . So water is tracking in via that route . When very rarely have masses of rain even seen it push across the ceiling to the other glazing skylight and come through in the same place I.e on slab under upstand water is tracking in from that lane 100% certain - because a few years ago I put a hose on that wall and it rained inside . Filled it in now - just wait for rain !!
  15. I know ! Almost impossible to give advice on . So went a bit deeper . Hitting hardcore now - presumably the lane . Going to mix cement and fill it in
  16. I know no one knows ; including me ! So here’s the leak on the inside . Coming in on the red line . So over the slab , not the upstand . Assuming wall in lane is sat on the slab . Green line shows depth of slab - 14cm . I guess I’m not going to find how it’s getting in but I am tempted to fill the trench with concrete with the plan being the rain then runs away from the build rather than straight through the ground and in .
  17. So after 2 yrs I decided to dig up the lane . The leak if you remember is running over the slab and in . Expecting to find great holes I found nothing . The only thing of note is the ground is really crap ( almost soil ) in this trench and I’m hoping that’s simply the issue . I can’t go much deeper as I can’t go too wide as the lane is needed for access . Just dig a bit more and pour concrete in ??
  18. @Adam2 no idea about your mega wine chiller construction. But , I feel that someone like myself would be an expert wine taster for you . I don’t charge , so it’s a free service .
  19. Yeah , if I and SWMBO had joint accounts one of us would be dead by now .
  20. I agree with you . SWMBO knows nowt . Just do what I do . Buy it and tell SWMBO it cost 500 quid 👍

  22. Cleaned out the trench . 2 full buckets of mud / soil - magic where it comes from . If I put the hose on the trench takes a good 15 minutes to fill - so can hold a fair bit of water . No issue - but worries me . Fill with chippings ? Just so not as much water will accumulate there ??
  23. Lol i never clean any car …
