It’s not a switcher - it can do wondrous things ! Though nearly put it through the window ! Noticed my Netflix account wasn’t 4k so upgraded . Expected that to happen on next monthly payment . So I put rebel moon on again ! ( sick of this film ! ) so it’s not 4k, not hdr or atmos . Eating food . Screen blanks out . Words with F emitted !! . Then check … now it’s 4k , atmos ! So magic happened !

My mate chat said I’d estimate that 60–80% of HDMI-related black screen dropouts in home theatre setups involving Apple TV, AVRs, and projectors/displays could be resolved or significantly improved with a device like the HDFury Vertex2.

Agree it’s all rather crap . I could bin the Appletv , buy a fire stick and it all works fine . Look online though plenty of dropped signal issues with all tv’s and streaming boxes . Some people even buy a new tv because they send their firestick / Appletv back as ‘ faulty ‘ - when it’s returned and they still have issues buy another tv ! . Sometimes they still have the issue 😳. As I’m likely to change / add something at some point AND ( IF at the moment ) this expensive vertex thing works - then it’s worth keeping . But yes , it’s crazy …

This is why an Appletv might work for a particular setup and not for someone else . Unfortunately that applies to ALL the AV stuff I.e tv , amp , console etc etc . Hence blackout screens common the more AV stuff you have … unless ( supposedly) you have a vertex2 .

Vertex2 is in . All running , no idea how effective it is . If no blackouts in an evening of watching then it’s success .

I think the problem exists because the water pools there when overwhelmed. I could remove paving blocks to avoid that . But I’d rather it can deal with the pooling . Cleaned it up as best I can . Will ct1 the asphalt overlaps and that end again .

Testing …

Much chatting to ChatGPT ( more than I do to SWMBO ) . Various devices can be funny about their hdmi handshake . The ‘standard’ isn’t enforced and brands do what they want . Usual non conformity in IT I guess . Appletv is notorious for being super strict on things . So if a signal is fractionally delayed or a handshake missed it will temporarily drop the signal hence ‘ no connection’ error . I tried switch 2 direct into denon for only 45 minutes - with zero issue . So will test that further . Vertex2 arrives today and one of its many functions is it will send a handshake to a device at speed regardless of its intended destination. So it fools the Appletv that it’s got a perfect signal response always .

No no no - that’ll be the prequel !!

I know ! It’s so exciting ! . It’s like a Netflix series you watch which is a bit shit ( most of them ) but you’ve put time and effort into viewing each episode so you feel obliged to get to the spectacular cliff hanger final episode! . Maybe there will be a season 2 ? 🤔

So I’m going to try all new hdmi certified cables first . if that fails - stick the vertex2 in All bought from Amazon so all returnable

You know I think it’s less . Whilst damp and I could see a droplet - not enough has come through to drip to the floor ! So wil ct1 that bit now !

So I can fiddle with a wide variety of audio options !

Guess what whilst fiddling made it blackout on signal loss . Also great fun swapping from hdmi 2 to view and 1 just so I can see the denon overlays !!! 🫤

Decided to do Appletv straight into projector . Switch 2 and ps5 still into denon ( not tested either of those yet ) . Time to put a movie on 😊 🍿🥤

I notice now these tiny gaps . Will ct1 them once a bit drier
