As suspected ,the trays been up and down more times than a vicar on steroids . Just as well I had a winch ! ? More alterations - the waste is a pain . Think it’ll go now ! . Probably have to put it in as I bed the tray - putting it in afterwards would be tricky as 2nd photo shows .

Discount Offers of the Week
Pocster replied to Ferdinand's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Some walk on glazing going cheap use discount code BUYMENOW -
Breaking through ready for the main bathroom shower tray . Waste has to be a swept 90 - would of preferred a 45 degree bend , but it’s the not going to happen
-
Bought a better hook as suggested by @Onoff - much better than the supplied one - no chance for straps to come off
-
It’s Friday just stop ! ?
-
As it’s Friday decided to score some SWMBO points and also get rid of a box . So put the ensuite wall unit up - no electrics connected to it yet .
-
-
Meanwhile ( I.e leave the heavy tray alone for a bit ) . Reluctantly cut away the pre formed recess . Cut back the tile bead . Now it should all fit with a thin layer of tile adhesive and a slight fall on the tile . Will ‘blue out ‘ the cut former just for my peace of mind.

Then do a self build and enjoy the exquisite pain and euphoria!!! ?
-
Still none the wiser . So what have you done to warrant being on a self build forum ? . Feels like you are avoiding the question

From what I’ve heard he is ..... Can’t say which member of admin said that .....

@Gav_P just shat himself for sure ?
-
Admin - I’m being picked on can you grow a pair and intervene? no ? Oh there’s a surprise
-
Yeah respect @Big Jimbo ; you (expletive deleted) want to take a swipe big Jimbo who is 5ft nothing and a skinny puny shit will not sort you out ! .
-
With the greatest of respect maybe if you fought planning for 5 years to get planning to build an underground non standard house with zero knowledge in this field you would understand. What have you built / done ?
-
Oh yes . Record covertly all planning / council meetings . A few gems may well appear .
-
@Jess27 I looked briefly at your proposal . If I can get planning in the most arrogant self righteous toss pot area with the wealthiest neighbours who have the council planners as “ friends “ then don’t you dare quit . Adapt . Turn opinion into fact . Planning is only half the story the other half is politics - I can guess what you think of that . So mitigate or reduce an alleged issue . Compromise where you need to . Play your worst hand so you can come back with your best hand . Though I’ve offered you no technical usable advice - you got this ?
-
Hence have multiple things on the go !
-
Don’t like the clasp as it’s pulled out and is just weak . Will order new hook as you suggest ! Failure is not an option ! ??
-
I didn’t mess with the clasp - bet you did though !
-
Nothing too see here ! Walk on by ! Tray up ( very carefully watching the hook ) timber propped underneath . There it will stay until a nicer ? hook solution is found . No drama . Oh look ! A forest ? ! See it !?
-
Another completely random example might be say you were lifting a heavy shower tray with a winch and the straps came off the hook . You’d probably be inclined to “ go and do something else “ at that point in time .... ???
-
When it’s above me I prop a length of timber across it . Winch is taking no weight - it’s relatively safe perched on timber . As I said I like to test and try a few times to get everything in the right place . No good getting it wrong and trying to lift it out on my own from a corner . Problem was the crappy clasp on the hook pulled out . Need a lockable clasp on a hook that can go on a cabled winch . I’m never under the tray when it’s moving up or down - I’m not that stupid ! ? This is a safe method !!
