At 3am I had a new plan enter my head . Got 2 300litre water butts out the front . Connect a hose to one and attenuate the flow so it gently empties into that concrete section above the paving . But dead slow so doesn’t overspill to the left nor right ( the lane ) . This can continue over a period of time until all 300litres has emptied . A slow but consistent test

(expletive deleted)ing decide quick though !

Even though it still leaks I decided to put back the block pavers . Firstly they won’t fit I poured the concrete to high - not exactly thrilled about angle grinding them in half - any suggestions? Secondly clearing crap out the way I still have mot type chippings and loose ground potentially where water could get in … What to do ? . Remove another row of pavers ? ; concrete it ? - then fill with nice chippings ?? No idea of course if this is the place of water ingress . Dig up rest of lane edge and bitumen paint ? You decide reader !!

Saniflo alarm not adequate
Pocster replied to Pocster's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
Got the alarm type box - seems good . Tested with the pressure switch - think it will work . I soldered to the pressure switch and busted it 🙄 ; getting a new one and will crimp . Assume heat melted the diaphragm maybe ? Opened up the zigbee relay - no chance of soldering anything as microscopic. So will get a mains powered zigbee relay with dry contact support . -
Insightful piece on more or less today.

Tried to specify the restrictions and issues further with chat . Went for this from Amazon so returnable ….

Trust me I thought of that 😊

Yeah looked at that website

Yeah looks a bit budget ! I guess the gate weighs 50kg so need something hardcore
-
Oh ! You’re doing the spring vertical ! I assumed ( in my logic at least ) had to be horizontal I.e from fixed side to gate
-
That might be the easiest method to work - change the hinges . Was looking for a cheaper and lazier solution
-
Apparently not because whilst I can attach to gate there’s nothing to attach to other side I.e no pillar - just the wall . I assume twisting that fixing so it attached to the recess stonework will cause it not to function . Check previous photo

Fabricate a custom rise washer ? Don’t think 3d printing will be strong enough
-
A washer with a fall effectively ? . That going to provide enough potential energy to cause the gate to close ?? 🤔
-
This type of thing was my first thought . But doesn’t the spring have to be flush to the gate ? . Because my gates recessed it wouldn’t work ? - ChatGPT told me that

Where’s all the (expletive deleted)ing engineers and brains ? This is tricky because it’s recessed - come on (expletive deleted) wits !

And the climb down as expected... I wish to also apologise for the confusion caused by the scheduling requirements in this case. This emanated from the information provided in the EPC, where an area of ‘no insulation’ was listed. The scheduling approach has been discussed with the officer and was immediately addressed with a revised copy. The officer identified an actionable hazard under the HHSRS, based on the EPC information provided and when scheduling the insulation, the CIEH Excess Cold Guidance was used. This guidance refers to the Building Regulations when scheduling and justifies it being referenced. As the request was for works to be either completed or confirmation sent that the area of roof space assumed to have no insulation was in fact insulated and an additional EPC report was not requested, we are not willing to reimburse these costs. Although the amount of insulation in the spaces was not able to be determined from a visual inspection the report confirms that the property is adequately insulated, and we can therefore confirm that the insulation items to the loft and kitchen are now considered to be fully resolved.
