I hate leaks . All I seem to deal with. Anyway! , lots of rain today some quite heavy . A good test . I think it’s leaking less , no drips - but damp . So I would say noticeably less than before application of sodium . This gives me confidence that I need to take up a few rows of pavers, concrete it then bitumen paint it . Of course how many rows is ‘enough ‘ to take up ? . I’m going for 4

Yes . But we’ve had water ingress all along the side party wall . Is it not possible a leak causes settling of materials and the stress cracks the plaster ??? ( not allowed to say things like @Mr Punter said about house falling apart ) The roof valley is right above all this .
-
Even so - I don’t believe this crack is along the original rear of the house and an extension … A loft conversion was added about 7 yrs ago . I’ll get more photos of the house tomorrow
-
There is what I believe was an added later extension . Where do you mean exactly ? . This is top of 1st floor staircase - so can’t see ‘below’ that ( or do you mean under the stairs ??

This valley has been an issue before . Water entering at the top of the stairs where property borders neighbor . Been fixed ‘x ‘ times . Lucky if I go 18 months with no issue . Roof is only about 7 years old . I assume a plaster crack like this is due to a leak ? I can see discolouration due to water ingress - just fed up that no one seems capable of a permanent ( relatively ! ) fix ! Equally in same house the stack has continual issues . Roofs been stripped on the area ; no obvious leak . Stack has been complexly re rendered …

Well it rained last night ; looks like a good down pour happened. Leak is no worse than- still damp from previous rain . So not a conclusive result but encouraging I guess .

You kidding me? £383 for two dumb conditions
Pocster replied to Alan Ambrose's topic in Planning Permission
That’s actually funny as my LPA would never answer yes or no as these are definite . So they would say “ you are factually not incorrect “ . If you queried is that a “ yes “ they just repeat in robot mode . -

These are thieving (expletive deleted) for sure . But you do have to look at the bigger picture -
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😃 or ….. You are da man !

Tipped sodium silicate all along that edge . Will leave for a few hours and then repeat . Apparently rain tomorrow so a good test

The Buildhub Sealant Challenge - are you up to it eh?

Expanding foam is my favourite . You put a bit in , then wait . Not expanded enough . But I know it will , so wait . Ffs ! Not expanded enough so add more . 3 minutes later it’s 26,000 times its original size . Amazing stuff -
How many double check valves are too many?

So basically it’s a mess and not neat at all . Thats acceptable then 👍 -

I realised that after I posted and edited . I still think it’s too neat . Can you make some of the pipes a bit crooked . Perhaps some burn marks on the back of the unit from soldering . Its all the isolation valves being inline that really bugs me though I think the red one is a few mm lower than the rest ; so that’s ok -

I have a box of nitre gloves with me when ever I sealant anything . If the nozzle drips too much or it just becomes messy I wipe it on the back of the glove . As soon as gloves become “ too messy “ - I throw them and put a new pair on . With gloves also can smear said sealant with finger - then bin gloves . The answer here is disposable gloves and use constantly . A ‘simple ‘ job might mean I easily get through 3 or 4 pairs - but almost never do I get the sealant everywhere . -
If this stuff stops it I’ll did out more block paving to concrete - as silicon silicate is not a permanent fix
-
I also believe that when a planning officer gets overwhelmed by objections regardless of their view they push it to committee as it avoids any blame being placed on a single council employee. ( regardless of outcome )

All the ones that haven’t died … yet …

Yes and yes

I win , I win - 33 neighbors objecting. In total they lodged around 120 objections

I looked at the price of Sika® Injection-101 RC for example … £800 for 20kg 🙄
-
Yep - normal build stuff . I think we all wake at 3am and think about that 50 quid problem and / or that 100k problem .

That’s a pretty good plan . What to use though ? . It’s got to be like piss to soak through the earth …
