  1. @Nickfromwales unless roper Rhodes come back with a mega solution to the ensuite valve being recessed to much I’ll smash the £&£&& tile out ! Got to make sure tile supplier still has some in stock first !!
  2. Ok . The square collar has an internal o ring which does indeed go against the spindle collar . It’s this other o ring I don’t get . Taking it all apart , putting it on the collar ( so it would have a o ring inside and outside ) it won’t fit in the face plate . You can see it’s mega tight
  3. You mean the bathroom one ? I can’t see where these o rings sit ( those collars are the only things with a ‘notch’ for something . The collars do have a o ring in them already ( which presumably goes against the spindle shroud ) .
  4. Noooooooooo ! Playing with the main bathroom one ( as it’s easy to adjust ) . Instructions show none of this but hey .... Black o ring on reverse - this makes sense ! . But the square chrome collar can still turn !
  5. Yeah I saw those . Don’t see how it fits onto my spindles . Both are different ...
  6. Emailed roper Rhodes ; they have a special email address for these issues im_a_twat@roperrhodes.ffs
  7. Main bathroom easy . Must of sub consciously anticipated an issue . Can simply push the whole fitting forward ! Can gain 10mm no issue ?? Ensuite though ... erm ..... can’t access from the rear !!
  8. @Nickfromwales got you . This ensuite valve I can’t move forward without smashing the wall apart ( ain’t going to happen ! ) . So can I ‘stick’ something on the end of those spindles to gain 15mm ?? Or anyone got some insane skills to ‘cut’ 15mm off the handles ! ?
  9. Took this end off . By making the screw loose I can gain a few mm . But now of course it wobbles ! Is this a ‘standard’ fitting ? ( need a longer one ! ) . Or what’s a good way to ‘pack’ the end out to make it longer ?
  10. Don’t get what it goes around ? The spindle ???
  11. I might of (expletive deleted)ed up here ! Cant get knob grub screw to bite spindle ! Presume valve is too far back - can’t move it !! Only about 2mm short ! ?
  12. Yeah the plates not the issue . The only supplied o ring is really small ...
  13. Stupidity on my part ! Instructions https://www.qssupplies.co.uk/bathroom-furniture-shower-taps/75877.htm# What I don’t understand is what stops the water going in behind the controls ? ( I don’t mean the face plate ) Sure I could stick some sealant around it - to stop water running behind the wall - but it could still go around the spindles . So white plastic ‘bits ‘ . A square chrome ‘collar ‘ - but that just sits in the hole - no fixing ; silicone again ??
  14. All those kids to pay for Uncle Nick ...
  15. Friday Uncle Nick - never too early ?
  16. Jazz ? Or something similar ?
  17. I did this in a previous house . IKEA units ; granite worktop . Estate agents would all “ wow ! “ then state “ That’s a 30 grand kitchen “ . I wasn’t of course . But I may of mentioned the estate agents “ view” to every prospective buyer .... ?
  18. Is that so I don’t make a mess ? ??
  19. I’m tempted to only put an expansion strip in a doorway only when there’s a change of tile flooring . So it’s a natural break and you won’t even notice it as the tiles have changed .
  20. Sure . But what if my tile grout line ( the expansion strip ) doesn’t line up in the doorway ? . Just ignore it ? . Or just put the expansion strip as near as possible to the doorway ?
  21. My thoughts
  22. I was going to de couple the entire floor and put expansion strips in ( or near ) to doorways . I thought this was the bolts n braces approach .
