  1. yeah, much better idea that chucking a turd down it. already planning a UP320 for each en-suite. have done much reading on this forum and that definitely seems to be the one to go for. me too!
  2. first bit of soil pipe done today. managed to join it up with our tile vent so I guess I now have an SVP. 🙂 above is the branch for our en-suite toilet. measured at 230mm center from FFL which seems to be standard-ish. it's only about 400mm from where the toilet will be so there shouldn't be any major dramas if I'm a little out I hope! this then goes down through a service void where the ******* MVHR pipes/ducts are. damn they are annoyingly always in the way. I think I'd have finished hours ago if I didn't have to take 3 MVHR pipes off a manifold to move them out of the way to get the soil pipe through. anyway, it's done now and I'm happy with it so far. MVHR pipes getting in the way of the boss fitting I installed. I was hoping to get to use 2 of the bosses but can only get to one of them now. will just have to run the shower, bath and sinks into the same waste pipe into the single boss hole. will try and find a turd to throw down to test it.
  3. I am indeed. only had to go to Screwfix/Toolstation twice today to pick up more things. 😂
  4. so I've done as you suggested and kept the 'Floplast' writing and logo the right way up but I'm still at a bit of a loss as to how it makes a difference? as you have double jointed sockets that have rubber seals at both ends so have to be able to have a rubber gasket at the bottom in some situations. so how is the double socket different to the single socket? do they put the rubber in facing the other way round? it doesn't look like it and it doesn't make sense!
  5. I’d have had to rip it out and start all again a couple of times already with solvent weld!
  6. Stupid question. Are single jointed push fit connectors ok to fit upside down? E.g. is there even a right way up?
  7. time for them to get a new SE?
  8. I'm so happy with my setup right now. this was yesterday where I managed to get 104 miles in to the car and then fully charge my 6.4kWh battery storage. you can see where the solar PV dropped off the battery kicked in to keep charging the car (I have a Hypervolt EV charger) and then at around 3pm the car finished charging and so the batteries started charging while also exporting quite a bit to the grid. I'm hoping that once we actually move in to the house we'll self consume more but it's working well at the moment, even with the batteries in the basement!
  9. interesting that you don't think the OSB has made a difference as it's quite a large expense to board out with OSB first! maybe I'll compare 15mm plasterboard costs with 9mm OSB and 12.5mm plasterboard
  10. I presume the builder didn't fit any sort of Rockwool in the internal walls to reduce the hollow echo chamber effect?
  11. you're having those awesome twin stud wall (I believe called Larsen truss?) which I presume is being filled with some form of cellulose pumped in? if so, why have you not considered a passive insulated slab? would get rid of all of your thermal bridge concerns at the slab level.
  12. our mineral wool filled TF will be lined with 9mm OSB and then 12mm plasterboard to give it a solid feel. again, best guess as I have no real experience of this but others seem to think it'll give the walls that 'solid' feel. not sure if going to 12.5mm OSB will be any added benefit though?
  13. Think I’ve been a member here long enough to know that threads go off topic quite a bit sometimes! 😂
  14. 110mm bits ordered from SF, free before midday next day delivery! quality. 🙂 maybe I can get started tomorrow after all
  15. that's the plan, but going to do the waste/soil pipe first and then I can run the hep2o around that to make sure it all fits in my service voids. one step at a time
  16. when I've started you'll get your photos don't you worry. gotta place the order for materials first! will probably end up starting on Monday.
  17. maybe it's just for plumbing stuff then. for my Siberian larch timber cladding they couldn't be beaten on price and that was even without me negotiating! beat the usual cladding suspects like Silva hands down.
  18. I guess I'll stick with Floplast from Screwfix then. no one has said don't use Floplast so I guess it's all much the same stuff.
  19. nope! 31 miles to the nearest one.
  20. I usually get good prices from them. Out of the 3 BMs I have accounts with I use Jewson the most as they seem to beat the others on most things!
  21. I have a credit account with them and they’re usually very competitive. I did price up at drainagepipe.co.uk ( they’re a Floplast stockist) but they worked out more expensive than SF for Floplast.
  22. the quotes are in for my initial 110mm pipe work. SF and Toolstation (Floplast and Aquaflow respectively) are about the same in price but Polypipe from Jewson is more than double the cost! is Polypipe really that much better or are Jewson just poor in their pricing for these products? if there's no real difference in manufacturer then I'll go with either Floplast or Aquaflow depending on availability and costs. @PeterW mentioned on page 3 that the TS Aquaflow stuff is pretty decent. anyone else got any comments on a Floplast vs Aquaflow subject?
  23. great tip! thank you and added to shopping list another great tip. added to my notes. will check out the Kilmat stuff as well for where it's needed.
  24. I bought a Festool saw. Expensive but made light work of mineral wool and PIR. I grew to hate the job simply for the time it’s taken us. I’ve saved money but if I got the TF company to do it we’d probably be in a finished house by now. 😢
