  1. but you don't actually know for a fact though, right? you're just guessing from other houses extensions? and, as you say, the other extensions were done before the owners bought the houses so how's to say that planning policies haven't changed in those years since? you sound very defeatist without even seemingly testing the water.
  2. I'll get SWMBO to administer them
  3. yeah. correct. was looking like a pain using the grey push fit so I bought that flexible pipe to assist. I guess I could make it fit better using orange bends like you say. I'll have a go in the morning to make it better and if that doesn't work I'll get some orange 15° and 30° bends.
  4. I figured as this was just the vent part of the SVP and wouldn't take any liquid/solid support wouldn't be needed. I guess that was an incorrect assumption!
  5. one of these? https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-flap-disc-115mm-80-grit/346jg
  6. I get this sort of chamfer of 'most' of the pipe but there are bits where it doesn't and it's still pretty much a 90° edge! It's most likely me not keeping the chamfer tool square to the pipe I guess but I've just taken to smoothing down the bit it doesn't work on with my small angle grinder. seems to do the trick with plenty of lube slathered on. (easy @pocster! don't get too excited)
  7. ps. as @Dillsue said, if you're getting an AC coupled battery system then you'll need a new G99 application.
  8. I've gone LuxPower (SquirrelPod) and Chinese batteries (Hanchu Ess https://www.hanchuess.com/low-battery.html). it's a good system that seems to work well but I've since learned it only supports 13A on EPS/UPS load so not quite a whole-house power cut solution but definitely enough to keep the lights and the router on! the LuxPower inverter works by using CT clamps on the solar and grid feeds and it works out if it needs to discharge or can charge. seems to do a great job so far but it's only been running a couple of weeks and we're not even in the house yet! but I do have the EV charger running off the new house so I can set that to get energy from PV and to supplement it from the batteries if PV isn't generating enough. I bought all my stuff direct from Big Green Beard and my electrician wired it up after I hung it on the wall. this is from before it was wired up.
  9. and a bit of kudos where it's due to @Onoff as his tip about the SF mitre box fitting the 110mm soil pipe was spot on! I bought one and my cuts have never been squarer. thank you @Onoff. you're a genius. but I am having poor results with the chamfer tool I bought. https://www.screwfix.com/p/metex-10mm-shank-drill-mounted-pvc-pipe-chamfer-tool-110mm/876pv?_requestid=421611 I must be doing it wrong as I get part of the pipe chamfered nicely but other parts not at all! I'm trying my hardest to keep the drill square to the pipe but nothing I do seems to work. I've gone back to using an angle grinder to smooth down the bits the chamfer tool isn't chamfering.
  10. just as I thought! thanks.
  11. cheers. will post a less fugly picture once I've rectified it tomorrow. it'll be the first job I do in the morning. 🙂
  12. cool. and I can just buy a long length of threaded rod and cut to length?
  13. if they're made by Tesla they must be good.
  14. I'm glad you're here Dave! it is downhill but I didn't think it'd matter as it's just a vent pipe! didn't even think about condensation of leakage. I will fix that tomorrow. THANK YOU!!
  15. I must be losing it as I can't find them on SF! what should I be searching for? 'soil pipe hangers' doesn't find them.
  16. I'm still waiting for @Nickfromwales to get here. he said he was walking and left last week. I'm getting a bit worried he might've got lost and I've now eaten all the cake so he'll be disappointed when he does finally arrive.
  17. @pocster where did you get these soil pipe hangers that I saw in your bathroom thread? I'm going to need some of those. also how long is the thread as mine will need to hang down quite a long way in some places I think?
  18. yeah, much better idea that chucking a turd down it. already planning a UP320 for each en-suite. have done much reading on this forum and that definitely seems to be the one to go for. me too!
  19. first bit of soil pipe done today. managed to join it up with our tile vent so I guess I now have an SVP. 🙂 above is the branch for our en-suite toilet. measured at 230mm center from FFL which seems to be standard-ish. it's only about 400mm from where the toilet will be so there shouldn't be any major dramas if I'm a little out I hope! this then goes down through a service void where the ******* MVHR pipes/ducts are. damn they are annoyingly always in the way. I think I'd have finished hours ago if I didn't have to take 3 MVHR pipes off a manifold to move them out of the way to get the soil pipe through. anyway, it's done now and I'm happy with it so far. MVHR pipes getting in the way of the boss fitting I installed. I was hoping to get to use 2 of the bosses but can only get to one of them now. will just have to run the shower, bath and sinks into the same waste pipe into the single boss hole. will try and find a turd to throw down to test it.
  20. I am indeed. only had to go to Screwfix/Toolstation twice today to pick up more things. 😂
  21. so I've done as you suggested and kept the 'Floplast' writing and logo the right way up but I'm still at a bit of a loss as to how it makes a difference? as you have double jointed sockets that have rubber seals at both ends so have to be able to have a rubber gasket at the bottom in some situations. so how is the double socket different to the single socket? do they put the rubber in facing the other way round? it doesn't look like it and it doesn't make sense!
  22. I’d have had to rip it out and start all again a couple of times already with solvent weld!
  23. Stupid question. Are single jointed push fit connectors ok to fit upside down? E.g. is there even a right way up?
  24. time for them to get a new SE?
