  1. No - that remains
  2. You know I had not thought to do that........
  3. SE suggests a minimum of 1400 x 1400 by 500mm deep
  4. We dont want a large or anything too square in what will be the middle of our new kitchen. I also didnt want to just have horizionfal rsj supports leaving the corner of the house just balanced. The column is part of the SE spec which is what id envisaged
  5. From a leading wooden floor company 1mm per week of scree, then its a case of seeing what the moisture is, my take on it leave it as long as you can.
  6. 1st floor..
  7. Its the sequence i'm after how would people tackle it. Yes the original corner is being removed in the final finish and a steel column with RSJ into the walls will be fitted, that bit I get. Its the need for the concrete pad and how to sequence its construction im after ideas for.
  8. Three skips so far and four grabs. We are kind of restricted over ease of access due to the previous owners desire to only provide side access to the property wide enough for a 85l barrow! It all basically had to go!
  9. I have been carefully and steadily taking a 15 year old structure down that came close to our 1930's Metro style semi. The original kitchen house exterior corner wall will in time be removed being replaced with a 143mm steel column, rather than having heavier RSJs and the house "hanging" on the corner. This is for a bigger newer extension. Our SE has specified a new cast pad to support the column steel. What would people from here look at beginning this element of demo-underpinning? Your thoughts experience welcome
  10. I have actively been sorting every metal from our demo stage of build. If it pays towards my grab skips its money I don't have to find from my bank account.

    Our idea...

groundworks continue and ongoing.. but came across some old cast iron pipe runs.. running away from the corner of the original kitchen at about 40' TWO pipes one about 1" the other a bit smaller seemingly both clear of rust basically only just below a concrete walkway sort of garden car port space
  12. Ours are spec'd 900mm to 1000mm 600mm wide with concrete poured to 600mm
  13. No Idea where the last month has gone. Our blocks arrived ten days or so after Swindon!
  14. a decade ago Machine mart were knocking these out for 30 gbp! new!!
  15. I attended with my father sin law and a number of others for a training day at Swindon Self Build. We had placed our order in advance of the event. The day was interesting in explaining the practical use of the product with many insights in how involvement with previous builds can and should improve new users interaction with ISOTEX. The course content was delivered by Jamie the boss of Insulhub supported by Andy. it was in my opinion an honest take on the product and positive hints on using the blocks. A huge step getting the training restarted, the day was sensible with current covid distancing. Plenty of opportunity to have a go at handling and laying some blocks and ask what ever you want of the product. I am glad we went, my father sin law until today had been interested in our choices made in our build to date, but it was good to see how he took on the day and to get to see the blocks. His starting point was why didn't we just use "traditional methods" but he came away enthused and not only keen to help, he's been really helpful anyway so far. He was clearly taken with using and wanting to help us to build our extension and summer house! Useful day overall. Roll on our delivery day!
  16. We opted for MODARC for our design, we are using ISOTEX. From our first on site meeting Jim was able to suggest a good few positive ideas of the design and how ISOTEX could work with it. Sadly our first design and our preferred design was then 20% altered to suit the PO.
  17. We have the built road outside its just it has the nuisance of being already built with a an opening a wheel barrow just goes through, but care with knuckles needs to be taken!
  18. I did contact a local builders merchant who we have had a few k worth of buisness with they "declined" so we wo t be back to them for the other 20k worth of materials
  19. Locally we asked that and had been told a forklift might be a bit of a challenge getting on off kerbs.
  20. Entrance wise sub 800mm Hence why the SE suggested a crane
  21. It aint that simple...
  22. We have been told it doesn't and we have to arrange it.
  23. Most but seemingly not ours!
  24. We have been informed that we need to get our blocks off a lorry, our project is in a domestic built setting. So wed assume we would be best with a telehandler to do that part. Sadly the property was developed about fifteen years ago and they basically took all but a narrow passage away, so talking to our SE he suggested the possible use of a crane to get the blocks off the road ASAP and secure into our garden. Have others had to use stuff like this sort of equipment? what was your experience? I can see the day being a tad busy and a need for precise and exact timetabling!
