Out of interest, how do they get tarmac to be permeable?

Text from the current manual. 5.1 suggests it’s an “overheat thermostat”. ”All models of UniQ heat batteries are fitted with 3 temperature sensors as shown in figure 5.1. The UniQ ‘e’ models are also fitted with electric heating element as shown in figure 5.1.” https://www.sunamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/UniQ-manual-20180719-V2.2.pdf

Oh, sorry to hear that! This is going to be interesting. If I were Sunamp i’d beloading the van right now with a replacement and calling in my senior technician to pack a suitcase and hit the road to Wiltshire ASAP.

I also need to tarmac the driveway nice the Build has finished, it’s a good 100metres long and 2.5m wide, so using road planings sounds good. Does anyone have any details on its use?

Solar Gain and opening windows?

Whilst at the design stage shouldn’t the OP be considering specifying coatings on the glass to reduce the effects of the sun? -
pros and cons of below shading options
Triassic replied to vk108's topic in Energy Efficient & Sustainable Design Concepts
I like the idea of external shutters or blinds. Shutters would be more robust in windy conditions. -
I had a similar problem with a property I sold a few years ago. I had to get a long term neighbour to swear a Statutory Declaration to the effect that the land was mine and had been my garden for as long as he could remember, in my case 50 years. The solicitor dealing with it got the land correctly registered and I had to purchase an indemnity to the effect that the purchaser would be covered for legal expenses should anyone disputed me registering the land.

Do people really not realise this?

It’s what you do to get a mortgage! -
The approved plans state that the exterior is a mix of coloured render and 18mm treated timber weatherboard. Would the planners even notice if I used treated fibre cement timber effect weatherboard?

Exterior Finish Below Render and Weatherboard
Triassic replied to Triassic's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Whilst on the subject of rendering! Having sorted out what to do below the render finish, how should I deal with the junction between the tender and the soffit boards? I appear to have two options, either render up to the soffit board (mine is a T&G effect, so lots of undulations) or leave the soffits off and render first and then butt the soffit up to the render. Thoughts? -
Im after trapezoid profile steel roofing sheets. I think I might have found a suppliers about 20miles away.

I see that Taylor Wimpey are in the news for building houses with weak mortar. Rather a sobering read. Is your mortar up to scratch? Interestingly gagging clauses were used to try and stop the affected families from talking about this experiences. Can someone clarify that it will be OK to mount the panels now, months before we connect them up to the inverter and the power supply?

How Often Does Your Building Inspector Visit?
Triassic replied to Triassic's topic in Building Regulations
My last planned inspection should have been timber frame Completion. I phoned and emailed the inspector to tell him the frame as complete, I followed this up with an email containing the structural calculations for the frame, floors and foundations. This was met with deafening silence! -
When I started my build I signed up with a private Building Inspection Company. In the last 18 months I’ve had 6 different people visit, they tend to be straight out of college and move on quickly. Recently I’ve phoned and emailed the inspector but i’m still awaiting a visit. How often does you inspector visit, did the inspector specify when they need to visit etc? Should I worry that my inspector is showing little interest in my build?

That Roofers Been Signed Off Sick
Triassic replied to Triassic's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Success, Old Fruit has been located. Having door knocked a number of houses I was finally pointed in the direction of his parents house! So Old Fruit, he’s actually called Chris, is coming on site on Friday to look at the job and give me a price! -

That Roofers Been Signed Off Sick
Triassic replied to Triassic's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Went to seek the advice of a neighbours last night regarding good local roofers. This morning I’ve got to hunt down a guy known locally as “Old Fruit”. I asked the neighbour “don’t you know his real name” the answer, “no!, I’ve only ever known him as Old Fruit” So I have no phone number and only a vague idea where he lives. Wish me luck as I go looking for Old Fruit ! -
I’m after some trapezoid tin sheets and no one locally stocks them, has anyone used an online supplier they could recommend?
