  1. If I get time, I'll photograph some of our OSB3 that has been outside for 4 years : re-used on all sorts of jobs a good few times, therefore frayed at the edges, but fine still
  2. Easy to read = easier to answer, so thanks for that. I have just talked to our architect and joked that everyone says I should put another house on our site: " Now that Wyre ( our LPA ) has its 5 year allocation in the Local Plan, unless you are doing a granny flat, you've no chance". ( of getting another house on our site). Local context is everything. Your best chance is to network like mad among your local contacts: planners, estate agents, councillors, builders Not the warmest of messages in response to a first post, but a warm welcome nevertheless.
  3. @Pete, you'll be okay if it's in stock....
  4. Naturlich! The cat now uses the ever increasing pile of invoices as his preferred spot to sunbathe. Not looking forward to the booing and hissing when he's moved into a house with no catflap.
  5. And lots to be glad about already. It only took you a year! Phhh, thats good going Welcome
  6. I really try to do that: and have done for 4 years now. And with one exception, (my timber supplier), the prices are out of my range and / or I'm treated as - how to put this politely - a nuisance. It certainly feels like that anyway. Ok. Fringe benefits come with it then? Hmmm.
  7. Stumbled, fuddle headed into Topps this morning: shop's just by the best mobile breakfast greasy spoon in the world. You should see that Doreen in action: with those buns, she's got a really really smoothe buttering action - and she lets me have AnySauceAtAll. Bliss Anyway, Topps Wedi products are out of this world - in terms of price. £600+ for a shower kit, much of which I don't need, and if I go onto justwedi.co.uk I can get what I need - and no more - for just over £260. Which leads me to ask I bet someone on here knows where to source Wedi at sensible prices? Fleabay?
  8. Ooooh, at last ... a chace to get to the January sales and get myself a ManBag. Must get one to match my workboots? Thanks Gary!
  9. I dont back-butter my toast either.....
  10. I just follow the guidance on this site The invoice always separates out the VAT (Mehrwertsteuer) , convert the value to quids and claim that.
  11. Que? Is there a German one??
  12. I last did some tiling when I was about 10 years old - way back last century. Got at least 50 square meters to lay: I have a strong feeling I'm going to enjoy this part of the build - tiling appeals to me. List of tools needed please - really fancy one of those Bosch tiling lasers......?
  13. Given a proper - that is to say competent and professional design - then price is the factor that would concern me most. Not sure of the meaning of '... also...' in
  14. I dunno what to say: maybe - What's new? German by birth, but far more loyal to the UK than ze Vaterland - posts like yours only add to my cynicism.
  15. I had to return an order to a German company (reuter.de) today. This is how the order arrived. If at the time of refusing the delivery, I'd have known what I know now, I would not have sent it back. Why? read on.... Megabad stopped delivering to the UK last year sometime. Reuter.de were cheaper than Megabad sometimes, so I ordered from them because they continued to deliver to the UK. Chatting to the guy in the Returns Department I find out that reuter.de is no longer shipping to the UK from the end of this month So bang goes that way of saving 20% then (with a further 20%off by reclaiming the VAT).... I have some other things on order - washbasins - there's a 3 week wait for them: not sure whether they're going to be delivered..... bit cross about that because if thats the case I should not have been able to purchase them. Worse things happen at sea eh?
  16. Thanks very much @Temp Good idea. Just like I have seen done on an outside drain, where the pipe is really inaccessible, but a 45 degree bend incorporated into the pipe makes the whole length (bar a few mm) cleanable.
  17. Floor finish will be tiles The trap I want to use is this one , or at least something like it : a circular drain hole set in the middle of a sloped surface ready for tiling. Wheelchair accessibility is a given. Its so tempting to forget it and simply shove in a shower tray and be done with it - a few people have suggested I do so. They probably haven't got an injured back, or arthritic hips. Those little jokers are not going to go away. A boss on the stack? No. A straight piece of 110 pipe sticks up 100mm above FFL
  18. Because the author said so. Far too respectful me. I'll keep looking.
  19. We really wanted coffer lighting ( sometimes called cove lighting), like this - or something like this ] But now that I've read Lucy Martin (2003) The Bible of Home Lighting (page 111) and looked at our ceiling level I realise the importance of a callout on page 111 Bummer. Short of sawing off the bottom chord of a few POSIs ...... And then I saw this YT video of Robin Clevett's kitchen. Made me think I might just be able to squeeze one in. When all the ceiling PB and skimming and floor is finished we should have a little under 2.4m clearance. Thats not enough is it? Any way round this little hiccup?
  20. Its 100mm, Ed Exactly as planned - in our case a bit of a suprise really ? So the drain from the shower tray - as shown above will likely cut into the top bit of the top layer of the the EPS 100 . The Radon DPM layer is 200 below the bottom of the concrete Does that matter? There is a Wedi Riofino shower tray that has a horizontal drain: but I suspect there might be a hissing and a booing about horizontal drains from the Commentariat about that {?} It shows that the drain is 60mm or so deep ( i.e. dig out 65mm), which means that I would not have to cut into the EPS 100 below it. What do you think?
  21. Welcome to STEEP LEARNING CURVE Central We pick up your dropped goolies. And I have dropped more than my fair share. PS, just up the road from you: passing Forton Services going North, next left and then first right. You'll be welcome anytime Ian
  22. The drain: I want it to be rodable. How much lower than the bottom of the drain assembly do I need to go?
  23. Used AVG, free, paid for and some of their add-ons on multiple platforms for many years (10+?) now. Never once even a hiccup
