We now have front and back doors! Really pleased with the RAL colour we went for, will match the garage roller shutters to this which have now been ordered. Composite doors are great quality but some issues with poor trim cutting around the outer window frames so they will have to come back and sort it. Fire place, mortar now in and wood-burner instal started today, hopefully complete tomorrow. need to decide how high to mount the cast oak mantle (trying to keep it low so TV can mount at a decent height)

Fireplace back out due to regs change can’t use thermalite block now as liable to cracking so all had to be pulled out! All sorted now just awaiting more brick slips turning up. Decorators starting on the 10th but getting tight as also decided to use a boarding system in the loft which needs to be installed asap before decorators paint upstairs. Also had estate agent out last week to get an idea of value so can start thinking about mortgage

Yes hot feed is from unvented cylinder Cold feed is direct. I have tried opening a tap full blast but shower pump does not cut in. Although if I turn downstairs shower to cold and barely crack the flow then upstairs shower works fine. Wonder if the warmer weather has bumper cold water pressure or something

Triggers for a standard mortgage, with a 'self build' house
Dan1983 replied to Andeh's topic in Self Build Mortgages
I was also wondering at what point a regular mortgage can be used. Our kitchen is in but no bathrooms or heating. House being valued tomorrow by an estate agent to get an idea of what we need to borrow but not sure if it’s a tad too soon -
No mesh filter guys And nothing comes out at all when turned to fully cold Just bizarre it works with downstairs shower running, can only presume it’s an over pressure issue. Ive removed the shower hose completely and this changes nothing

Afternoon all, strange one here, we are in a rental and seem to have an issue with the pump that supplied the water to the shower. The system is just an emersion tank and solar panels (no boiler) When we first moved in the showers would not work properly the flow/pump would just pulse in and out. This turned out to be wrong spec shower heads and was a quick fix (needed higher flow) Been here over a year now no issues. Went to use the shower yesterday and pump cut in for maybe 10 seconds then switched off If you turn water all the way to hot it cuts in again for another 10 seconds then pump cuts out again. The property also has a downstairs shower room which we don’t use. Strange thing is if you run the downstairs shower and upstairs shower at the same time it all works fine and pump stays in. Ive de lime-scaled the shower head upstairs to see if this was the fault but still no joy. Any ideas what could be causing this? Many thanks for any pointers

Engineered oak floor now complete in lounge, also brick slips installed for fireplace. Just awaiting the cream grout turning up for these to complete then wood-burner can be installed. Kitchen more or less complete, oak worktops oiled and fitted just need up stands fitting now. Also need to order up stands for laminate top in utility. Decided to get a custom aged/ blackened copper splash back to try and tie in the unit handles. Holding off fitting the range until this arrives.

What type of doors do you have? in our old place we painted over our old pine units and came out quite good. Lasted the 8 years it needed to and only cost us a couple of tins of paint

Didn’t think match was going to be great at first. Found an off cut of worktop at the house and put some rustins danish oil on. Match now looks good, looking at the oil type marks on the cardboard the up stands come in I think they maybe pre oiled from Wickes
-
Going to pick a few lengths up from wickes later so fingers crossed. Hopefully colour match will be close once oiled
-
Thanks all Looking for 70-80mm upstand Good shout on the Wickes one Peter. ideally I want square edge to match the work top but will settle on bull nose if I have to. Seems silly Howdens can’t match it
-
Evening all, Our oak worktops are from Howdens with 20mm staves. Unfortunately the up-stands they provide to match this work top are half stave so don't match. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found anyone the can do 20mm stave up stands? Nothing obvious coming up online. many thanks for any pointers

Just copying the URL Peter, always worked fine before. Thought it maybe as I was trying to add too many at once

Can’t seem to add pictures at the moment

Afternoon all, Project has been slightly on hold due to entrance door delays. Kitchen/ utility now going in, a few small issues but hopefully will all be resolved next week Went for a gun metal kettle tap from Fohen. Range is in storage so will have to bring it over when gas fitter is next about. Both bathrooms tiled and went for LVT on the floors, really pleased with this, looks like real wood with embossed print/ texture. Would rather have narrower planks with the small rooms but LVT seems limited to this width. Doors now fitted along with skirting and architrave. Pleased with these as help with the cottage theme. Matt black handles with matching hinges etc Lounge wise flooring should be done next week, went engineered oak due to UFH, all the wood and LVT came from Ambience who were great to deal with. Wood burner also going in at end of the month. Interior designer has now finalised all the room/ ceiling woodwork colours and measured up for roman blinds. Really need to sort the mortgage out ASAP as running out of money/ down to 40k remaining

Stairs going in now, upgraded to oak in the end as thought it was worth spending an extra 1k in this area. Limestone tumbled floor now complete in hall, kitchen and utility. These have really hurt the budget and taken up all of our PC sum for flooring. 22mm thick so lots of extra grout etc. Now it’s down I think it was well worth it, it’s much lighter in person and gone with a matt sealer. Downstairs toilet area now formed, quite small but enough for a toilet and small wall and slim vanity unit Our slush fund is now gone which was 20k so really need to try and stick to PC sum to completion.
