  1. Yes from what I’ve read it’s about the quietest hence wanting to use one. Do the fans run constantly or only when hot water requires heating/ central heating required in winter? I would hate for it to be one of those noises that drives people crazy in the summer when they are sat in the garden trying to relax
  2. Good afternoon, We are also thinking of going ASHP using an eco dan unit. our neighbour is approx 10 meters away, do you think the noise of the fan would be an issue or are they really quiet? many thanks for any input
  3. I did get the tape measure out to double check! Concrete being poured today, well that was the plan, hopefully the weather won’t change that. Still trying to decide if we push the budget and use flush casement windows and explore the ASHP route.
  4. More footings going in, when marked out in spray paint foot print doesn’t look that big!
  5. Fingers crossed no surprises in the ground, looks to be decent soil. As we are in the forest I expected to be on gravel. upload png
  6. Thanks for the info Ian I was struggling to see where the extra 10k system cost was coming from (was a guess from builder). As you say the main question is cost over the actual boiler system rather than the ancillaries as you need them regardless for both systems. Just guess it would come down to how much bigger the upstairs rads would need to be also. Once you empty the hot water cylinder is back to full and heat time similar to gas or do you just rely on emersion if hot water if required sharpish? Lastly are the modern units noisy? It would be located on the kitchen wall (thinking of noise for neighbours also) many thanks
  7. I will have a look back over the figures with the builder. It seems to be difficult to get a figure for ASHP vs System boiler etc cost wise
  8. That sounds good but take it I still have the initial outlay of the ASHP set up? I would really like a HP set up if possible I take it no issues with house temps in the winter etc? We are having UFH downstairs and rads upstairs/ 2 bathrooms
  9. I read about the hot water temps on here. Either way was going to push budget over so was a no go for now
  10. Thank-you, we were also concerned about hot water temps with the ASHP as heard they can be on the lower side
  11. Did look down the route of ASHP, it was going to add approx 10k to the build unfortunately. Possibly short sighted but decided to stick to gas and up spec insulation to pass SAP so no renewable energy needed.

  13. And so it begins!
  14. Thanks guys, Builder has said Rehau, looks like they do a UPVC with grain finish and flush casement. Will ring them in the morning to see how much more expensive flush casement is over storm casement
  15. Guys does anyone have any recommendations for companies that offer flush casement with wood grain effect? Seems most flush casements are smooth finish rather than wood grain
  16. Thanks Andy, going to give the broker a call and see if protek can drop off the tool insurance and temporary building cover and just leave in place the liability and building cover as you mentioned. will report back!
  17. Many thanks for the replies! The public liability/ building cover makes sense, I will have a look into that tomorrow Just struggling for time as trying to empty our current house
  18. Evening all, Our new build project starts this month, and we are just finalising the 10 year structural warranty with Build Zone. I have also been asked if we require site insurance? We are using one main contractor/ builder that is owning the entire project from start to finish. Items such as cover for temporary buildings/ tools on site etc I would assume are down to the builder? The main items making me think we need it are for the public liability and event of an injury on site as we own the land? The other factor is covering theft of materials etc although this is fairly unlikely where we live. Do most opt for this insurance if using a main contractor? Its £700 so won’t break the bank but would rather save it if the builders normal insurance would cover most items apart from theft of materials many thanks for any pointers
  19. Sorry now posted in correct section
  20. Thanks for reply. Seems a nightmare trying to get info and pricing on things at the moment even though merchants are still open etc. Are there any other slate makers other than SIGA that I should be looking at? Ideally something that lays fairly flat with textured finish
  21. Evening all, Our new build starts in April but still have a few items to sort. My plan for the slate was SEGA 32 but builder coming back saying they are expensive at £5 a slate! They have suggested the 112 which is much more reasonable at £1.80 per slate. The 112 is a smooth slate which I don’t like. Does anyone have any suggestions? Looking for a textured finish to give a weathered look etc. Finding it difficult to get answers from suppliers and prices (due to covid I expect.) many thanks for any pointers
