  1. I know! Frustratingly we have been going on about this ever since the door got put in and saying about the fingerprint sensor and location and we are a bit pi**ed off it wasn't done at the stage it could have been hidden in a cavity. Just want to get the thing working, get the house completed in that the snags and the building work is done and when lockdown is over get my uncle who is an electrician but not local to come and sort a couple of post work issues out which may include hacking into walls. They aren't properly decorated as we just had it cheaply sprayed white and no woodwork has been painted yet so we need to gradually work through each room when money permits..... An example of one of our oops issues being going to wall mount a TV in a guest room so having high socket to find it actually would be better on a cabinet so we need a low socket. I did tell the other half this so I'm not taking the blame for this one.
  2. Blew my brain a bit.... ?
  3. Thanks both. Ordered the cheaper version. Thanks for the offer of DIN rail. We have some thanks. Not quite sure where it is going yet nor how we are going to disguise it. @Onoff
  4. Is there any difference between this and the ones @TonyT linked to or are they the same thing?
  5. Can anyone advise where I can get a transformer suitable for our Internorm front door fingerprint sensor. They have sent through a wiring diagram but I'm not sure exactly what transformer is needed. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can get what is on the diagram please. Ta
  6. Spark is here now so fingers crossed!
  7. So it actually isn't permanently on. Today it is blinking on and off red and but we still have all zeros. Is this normal? Inverter is now right and the 'today' reading finally seems in line with the 'all' one.
  8. Right I've now set the date and time which was wrong. That knocking is probably one of the most painfully slow processes ever. Resorted to hitting the damn thing with a rubber sandpaper block. Wife is going to look at the meter terminals later after work. Solic200 isn't working with all red lights so the electrician will need to sort that out because that's not been working since he installed it.
  9. So do I need to get the electrician back? I need to look at it in the day when generating to see if it's flashing now but either way something isn't right. Our Solic pv immersion isn't working either it has all red lights so that's something else. Someone get me some decent tradesmen....
  10. Solid red light and looking back through my pictures it was a solid red light a few days ago too. And it's reading zero.
  11. That's the problem I can't get into anything now as the knocking thing brings up one screen and then it goes off and no amount of knocking can get back. I'll have to check it out tomorrow when it's on. I wonder if there is some additional type of monitoring system I can get. I think they do some sort of other connectors with the Growatt.
  12. The Growatt manual isn't helpful so I'm not really sure.
  13. Not claiming either.
  14. Around lunchtime and it was at 2.2 after gradually going up throughout the morning but then when I checked again it was 0.3. The opposite! Yesterday we had snow pretty much all day and from the readings I took throughout yesterday until pretty much this time yesterday I think it was only around 1kWh. I've been roughly looking at it throughout the day and it looks to me like: 2.4kWh Friday 1.7kWh Saturday 1 kWh Sunday And the 'all' reading today is now 7.7kWh I would guess it has done around 2.6 kWh today. What I don't understand is the 'today' reading changes throughout the day, e.g. now it's 0.4kWh....
  15. Next blonde question... I'm a bit confused on our solar on how to get a clear picture of what we are generating. On the inverter the screen flashes and there is one that says 'all' and one that says 'today'. When I just looked at it now (3:50pm) the 'today' was 0.3kWh but when I looked at it earlier it was around 2.2kWh. Does this mean it's just a snapshot of 'now' what it is generating? And the 'all' is this how many kWh since it was installed since Friday or as in all today? This thing is still showing with zeros.
  16. Yep, slightly more expensive if you start it at say 8:30pm for example and it then depends if you want 3 hours, 4 hours or 5 hours of cheap electricity. 5 hours being slightly more expensive per kWh than 3 hours. I guess it depends on if you can get significant use of 5 hours versus 3 or 4 hours. I could just stay in the bath for 4 hours topping up the hot water ?
  17. No they are different tarrifs - the Go one is the 00:30-04:30 is the one at 5.00p kWh. The then have the Go Faster Tarrifs which are different prices and periods (options 1-3) so have the options of different times than the standard 'Go' one.
  18. The only stumbling block was not knowing if I had a smart meter. I found a Scottish Power logo on it and took a pic of it and they have confirmed it is a smart meter so there should be no problems moving. Yes I was thinking that the 830am would be good for showers, baths, watching TV etc and charging things reading for logging on work in the morning - at which point we can then make use of the solar again. I'm going to call Octopus and see if they can get me on this tarrif
  19. I believe Quooker is 3p a day but then we have the cube for filtered water etc which I believe is 3p a day according to the Quooker website. We aren't heavy dishwasher or laundry users. We do make sure TVs are all off overnight but we also have the treatment plant, pump etc but I'm pretty content with our general other usage but will be getting some timers to charge things when we move to Octopus and have a cheaper overnight Tarrif once they confirm if we have a smart meter or not as the wait is significant to get one installed and they put you on a higher tarrif whilst waiting for a smart meter.
  20. I'm going to keep monitoring it weekly so I get a really clear picture of usage, especially in the colder months. We have an abundance of wood so are making us of our log burner at the moment in the evenings. Whilst the EWI isn't in I don't want to whack the temperature up, rather walking round wearing something more than a t-shirt is probably a better idea! We had builders here for two days using equipment so it's probably more than we would normally use. That said, we could never get to 2 kW a day. But we are both working from home, laptops etc. I've been looking at our solar generation on the inverter today and we have had 2.5kWh for a sunny morning and miserable, rainy afternoon.
  21. That would account for half of the units used but not all.
  22. Why is it drawing at all? Should it not be? Bear in mind I think at least of of this was the Tuesday when it did or tried to do the disenfectent cycle which I've now deactivated.
  23. So having been monitoring the units for a week I now have a clearer picture. We have used a total of 339 kWh since last Friday when we took the readings at a similar time. Of this the breakdown is as follows: Heat pump 218 kWh Immersion 18 kWh 'Other' 103 kWh Some things to note - our solar got connected finally late afternoon Thursday so seems to be working now today and I can definitely monitor this over the next week too. Outside temperatures dropped Wednesday onwards and it has been a lot colder. We noticed the HP using quite a bit more over the past 48 hours than it was earlier in the week. We haven't got the house as warm as we would like and have thermostats set at 19-20. On Wednesday evening we had a powercut from 10pm through til around 5am with sporadic attempts to restore power in between so temperatures dropped in the house. It's still more than what we are hoping for but let's hope it gets better......
