Meter Readings Panic and Electricity Costs
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Electrics - Other
Yep, and that won't happen until the weather stabilises and we can get it rendered at which point it will be spring and the weather will be warmer anyway - typical. I'm hoping the insulation has a significant impact! Other things like blinds/curtains in some rooms will also help (we have nothing at the moment)! -

I don't believe there is a second immersion. -

Another week.... Big difference this week. After a 'worse consumption ever' weekend on 13/14 Feb for the heat pump with minus temperatures and a bitter wind the 24 hr period from last Friday afternoon to the Saturday was a whopping 80 units for the heat pump. Monday - Friday this week has been so much better as soon as figures came out of freezing we also experienced our 'lowest consumption ever' in a 24 hour period - only 18 units for the heat pump. Average has been 26 units Monday - Friday this week With the electricity monitor I'm pretty content with our 'other' electricity use which averages at 7kWh a day. The coffee machine isn't too electricity friendly and the hob has an engineers visit next week as there is an issue (which may also explain the slightly high consumption when this gets turned on). -
The space for our dressing room is 4400*3610 (239 height) which is accessed via pocket doors from the main bedroom. The wife is keen for a walk in wardrobe but thought of a completely open walk in wardrobe horrifies me! Lets be honest any pictures you see of walk in wardrobe are of matching clothes normally shades of cream and pink with amazing organization that in no way reflects real life! The compromise was to have the walk in wardrobe split so it has an open entry and open hanging/shelves but so the open space of the wardrobe isn't visible as you walk in the room. The rest of the room we then want as dressing/make up with a window seat/storage cupboards below (one wall will have a wall mounted TV). We have spent quite a few weeks now playing with the Ikea design planner as well as DIYHomefit and similar sites to get a rough idea of prices and also then accounting for the fact we would need to get a joiner to hack things in and they don't quite do exactly what we want. We have also have had a few bespoke local trades out who specialise in furniture. One local company did a rough plan and although this needs some changes (we don't want all those cubes inside rather just shelves for shoes, folded items etc) and we want storage either side of the walk in wardrobe and perhaps more hanging space rather than drawers. Any thoughts? The price we had included spraying in a painter finish and mrmdf material.

Just waiting for changeover to Octopus for us on 26 February. Then we have to wait up to two weeks before we can change on to Octopus Go/Go Faster. Agile I don't think will suit us. -

Emmeti CS17 Thermostats are what we have throughout. -

I Don't think so, when the disenfectent cycle was programmed on the heat pump the immersion use (on the immersion meter) went up significantly. -

I've got one on order. I have a feeling there are some issues with one or the bathrooms. The thermostat is in the hall just outside the door and the bathroom seems to be very cool even though we have this temperature higher than the other stats for this reason. -

I can't seem to find a fuse labelled for this but the ASHP was working. This is driving me insane! 4.73kWh??? Only for a couple of seconds then dropped back to just over 2kWh. -

I'll have to look at the manual for the controller MWR-WW10N. -

Ovens/coffee machine are off are on standby, where the clock is on but nothing else. Then there is just the fridge and freezer and router and sewage treatment plant but they are all things that are normally on. No lights on. The only thing we don't normally have on is the slow cooker for tea. We turn everything else off at the plugs like TVs, microwave etc. We currently have nothing charging. There is nothing else I can think of! I just caught a spike. Turned off heat pump. -

Hmmmm this is going to be a trial and error. Now I know this I'll wait til it goes up again and see what else I can turn off. Wife is in the garage so let me check she didn't have something on up there. -

We have had some mixed days this week but each day I've been looking at the solar and we have had between 4.5-6kWh each day from this. What I don't know is how much of it has gone to the immersion via the Solic and how much we used ourselves. -

It's the heat pump. The cost current shot up to 3.23 turned off the HP at the fuse and it dropped to 420w. When the reading on the cost current was 580w I turned off the HP and the meter dropped to 450w so when the HP calls for heat that seems to account for the increase. I will over the course of the week be able to see what happens when we use larger appliances. -

Yep when I see it shoot up again I'll turn the HP off and see if it's that! -

Yep they were quite dismissive. With the help of @Ultima357 who has the same heat pump I've been through all the settings etc and am now pretty confident it's settings are right. Before we had these really poor temperatures it seemed to be performing pretty well. I am just hoping when we have our EWI this is going to make a lot of difference but it's good to keep monitoring it especially during these sorts of temperatures. By contrast the week from 30/01 to 05/02 we used only 257 of units for the heat pump in a week. -

Sat in house nothing extra plugged in since I said it was fairly static at 800-900w and then this... Seconds later.. and it's now between 500-600w. It has to be the heat pump for our heating because we haven't changed anything else. -

Sort of (there is a setting but the installation company said this wasn't entirely accurate). It does give me a daily figure but this is obviously based on a 24 hour period each day, where as I check the HP meter and the main meter reading each day at the same time (rather than from midnight to midnight which is what the Samsung gives as the usage each day) and am able to take off the HP meter reading to give our 'other' use. I did look on the Samsung settings and from last Friday (that would be from midnight last Friday to the time now) it is showing on the Heat Pump itself as 435 units where I did it from last Friday lunchtime to this Friday lunchtime and got 390 units. -

Wouldn't this be included in our 'other' electricity units, e.g. the 60 units this past week that weren't on the Heat Pump? -

The Current Cost monitor is now at 880-900w and pretty steady. We have the Quooker tap and it didn't really make much difference when my other half made me a drink.
