  1. Hahaha nope! The wife did.... though she is more familiar with railway signalling and electronics I have more faith in her skills . . .
  2. Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. It took about 3 months to arrive but we got this for our living room after I saw the Tom Dixon 'Beat' ones. Looks pretty smart. Got some dimmable filament bulbs and it has a nice orange glow from the bronze.
  3. It's my new obsession. As I've been monitoring our heat pump use daily along with the solar too it's meant I've been able to separate out the heating/hot water over other things. What we can't seem to work out is why in the past 24 hours it doubled for our 'other' use.
  4. Perfect thanks I'll have a look on eBay now.
  5. Someone did link one somewhere but I can't find it now. We are monitoring our HP use now daily but I want to try and work out what our 'other' use is. Between Friday and Monday our other use (not heat pump) averaged out at 8.3kWh a day but they between yesterday afternoon and today it was 20kWh and we can't work out why.
  6. Thank you for this. In the box that says 3 phase I'm guessing that is blank and in the single phase PH1 I'm putting 3.6kW and then 1 in the power factor box?
  7. Just had a root around and I think I have it here, well actually we have two not sure if I should send both.
  8. Oh I forget to upload the form....
  9. Hi I really need to get this done sorted for the solar. Anything over 3.68 is diverted to the solar immersion. Can anyone advise what info I should be putting onto this chart. I am presuming the details I should be recording is the inverter, so the Growatt 3600MTL-S? Thanks
  10. I may just eat my words.... The drains man located a small flat frisbee shaped stone which was causing some problems with the pump. Now removed..... He is popping back in a few hours but it seems this could have been the cause. Plumber now also checking traps but I think these are fine.....
  11. Drains/septic tank guy here .... STP pump 'working but not' muttering about blockage. Plumber also coming out. Now it's not us putting anything down it we shouldn't, we have been very careful so the question is what's the issue as it's only impacting on the ensuite toilet the other two are fine. I just knew it had to be the plumber.....
  12. Thanks for that.... ?? We do have mice, shrews and voles. I know because they chewed through a lot of our items in our dry storage in the outbuildings as well as destroying some wiring in my car and chewing through my MOT and insurance papers..... We had quite a few traps in place in the outbuildings and it was a daily task lady year. I may need to get the traps and peanut butter out again....
  13. I think it's like a gas sort of smell. It's not like any farm smell and I grew up on a farm! I've had my nose practically down each plughole inside the vanity unit and by the loo and it doesn't appear to be coming from any of these points. It's not musty or mouldy either. They all said I have never smelt a rotting animal either ?
  14. We are evacuating into the other side of the house. Went to get ready for bed and use our ensuite and oh my god do we have a bad smell. Literally makes my eyes water it's absolutely disgusting. We don't have an opening window as it's a flat roof skylight so have the fan on with little impact. Shut all doors to stop it drifting through house. Our ensuite is used regularly, probably more than any other. The weird thing is I can't pinpoint it coming from anywhere in particular and my sense of smell is acute (unfortunately). I know we have a durga valve in there. All other loos fine and no smells.
  15. I was out off with the Agile tarrif and knowing my luck our main use will be when it's higher. The Octopus Go rates for us are slightly more expensive in the day but we may look at the Go Faster which has cheaper rates from 8:30pm rather than the 0:30-4:30am (we don't have electric cars).
  16. It's warmer where you are it's now 2 degrees here. I'll be lighting the woodburner later.
  17. What temperature do you have your thermostats set to? We had ours set at 19 degrees which we found too cool and even then (with outside temperatures around 8-10 degrees) our consumption and DHW on a schedule we were still in around 25kWh. Today with temperatures of 3 degrees and in the 24 hour period since yesterday with our thermostats raised to 20 degrees we have used just over 40kWh with the heat pump. You will have seen on my thread we don't have EWI yet which I'm hoping will help in the longer term.
  18. That's interesting. I guess I can keep monitoring it to see what happens. At the moment it's just about monitoring it each week and seeing what is having an impact.
  19. Yep thanks to advice on here we went for the 400 litre Gledhill. We are not using the legionella cycle at the moment. Having read a few posts on here it doesn't seem many people do and just tend to run at 48 degrees. Not yet as I'm tied in to a contract til end of Feb so in a week I am, I've confirmed with Octopus I already have a smart meter so I'm ready to go but @joe90 sent me his referral a while ago and beat you to it! Perhaps he will split it with you....
  20. I have no idea but our temp is set to 48 degrees. The hot water is scheduled to come on for two hours, the rest of the time it is off and remains hot from what has been previously.
  21. We have our temperature set to 48 degrees now too. I'm also in the process of changing to Octopus and will be taking their Go tarrif, one of which gives us cheaper electricity from 8:30pm so I plan to heat water for a few hours during this period too.
  22. Another interesting week, we have used 304 units on our heat pump this week which is up on last week but we had some colder temperatures over the weekend and earlier in the week and I raised the thermostats a little. @Ultima357 has given me some great information having the same ASHP as me and things are looking a bit better albeit we have had warmer temperatures the past couple of days. Some things that have helped and made me notice a real difference. For the past couple of days I've programmed a schedule for the hot water and it now comes on for a couple of hours just after tea rather than it having no schedule and being just set to a permanent temperature. We have found that just this couple of hours is enough to satisfy my hot baths and showers in the evening and remains warm and is completely sufficient through the next day even without the solar PV immersion (which isn't having any impact at the moment as we are only getting around 2.8kWh at the highest day this week due to some pretty crap weather so there isn't any excess to divert to the immersion). The past couple of days we have had the DHW schedule our HP meter is showing between 22-27 units in a 24 hour period which seems fantastic to me given we raised our thermostat temperatures too so I do believe a significant proportion of our electricity use was the DHW rather than the heating though I'm going to monitor it over the next week to give us a clearer picture. Our 'other' use has gone up significantly this week to almost 180 units due to builders being on site for a few days and we can pinpoint why this has increased a lot so this should be an exception. And the immersion reading hasn't changed since I have deactivated the 'disenfectent' aka legionella cycle for the time being.
  23. Thanks it's actually a stud wall I believe so this could work well.
  24. Yep we have a manual lock as well with key. It may be we just get one of those box things @Onoff suggested. Not idea but solves a problem.
  25. Thanks both. It's an Internorm front door with fingerprint sensor. I've had contact with a very helpful guy in Austria at Internorm who sent through lots of info and we have the manuals ready to set it all up. Some info they sent. I believe everything is in the frame itself as this is where all the wires were. I also think we don't have studded walls rather it is blocks (other side is a bathroom). No cupboard etc. There is a fuse button so think this is for the front door. The little screen is a thermostat. 4_1_5_Electrical connection plans - ENGLISH.pdf Also see file attached.
