Fence alongside neighbours fence.
Discoeye replied to Discoeye's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
No harm in asking again , I get on fine with him and he always has the place painted and general upkeep but doesn't seem bothered about the garden. -
We have a rental property next door and their boundary fence resembles the Great Wall of china its up ,down zigs in and out has gaps everywhere and the end of the run is collapsing into my garden. I have spoken to the landlord and he said he would renew it when he got the next lot of tenants in but that was 5 years ago I even offered to pay half but nothing as to date and I have been reluctant to run a fence alongside it on my property for not wanting to give up a couple of inches of my garden if he sees my new fence and he takes his down. We have however decided to get a dog this summer and I want the garden secure for him/her the rest of my property is fine so im going to run my own fence. Thoughts....

No seal at stove pipe to logburner collar
Discoeye replied to Hunter7's topic in Stoves, Fires & Fireplaces
+1 for contacting the installer first to see if you can iron things out by asking him the questions you have. We had our old stove replaced about 3 years ago and a Co monitor alarm was supplied by the fitter and was told it was his responsibility to do so but didn't supply a Hetas certificate so I called Hetas who indeed contacted the installer and told he needed to issue 1 , I felt a little bad as I had jumped the gun and it was just the case that he hadn't done his weekly paperwork for his installs and came round and handed me the certificate and asked if I was happy with the install. -
Thank you, so fixings in the centre for securing the window also.

Thank you . Another daft question is there a sweet spot for frame fixings through the window frame i.e: front edge ,back edge or centre of frame.

Make sure you get a Hetas certificate for the install . +1 for high temp rope and sealant and yearly sweeps or your house insurance would be void if you cant prove regular maintenance . -
+1 For silicone and colour to match.

Fence posts for odd angled corners
Discoeye replied to WWilts's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Have a look at fence cant rails to use as posts. -
Light is going to be your enemy there, however the ceiling looks thirsty still so you have nothing to lose by painting it with another 2 coats of something good Tikkurila Anti Reflex 2 as mentioned is a good choice .
-
Welcome sounds like you have a busy time ahead,
-
Is that a mist coat or a full 2 coats of paint . Looks like the new plaster has drawn the paint in like a sponge and rolled in multiple directions .Paint it like you would cut stripes in a lawn and keep the wet edge going by slightly overlapping your last roller line.

I feel your pain. The longer things take to happen the more mistakes seem to evolve. Good luck😄

For me honey is not a nice look for oak but each to their own although I must say that does look good.

Hi, that's a sad story to end up living a reality. Your right that's it space fit for nothing good and if you really want the utility room pinch the space from the kitchen if possible. I would die for a utility room and on our next house purchase my wife and I have both said if the house has a utility room we will buy it and look at the rest of the house when we move in(tongue in cheek).
-
Forgot to say it will prevent the natural weathering of oak if that's what your looking for.
-
Osmo uv protection oil clear. Good stuff and will keep the look of oak without darkening it.
-
Well without a whole re-render its just a patch fill and paint job which is more than suffice, put a ladder up and give the areas a scrape and a poke and get a better idea of what's going on.
-
Welcome , I like the sound of nobody knows you're there apart from the smoke from a chimney. Not me personally but lots of experienced guys and girls on here for you to pick their brains for ideas. Good luck with the build and keep us all updated.

Does Lmn Silicone react with Fm330 foam
Discoeye replied to Discoeye's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Spoke to illbruck today they were very helpful and confirmed all would be fine then cheekily recommended their own brand of silicone. 😇 -
Most will probably disagree but Hamilton perfection 12 inch medium pile{ green sleeve} load the roller up and use every last drop on the wall before reloading and don't take to roller off the wall until you need to reload.

Test holes a must
-
To determine the suitability of the footings an inspection hole dug alongside the garage footings is usually done but you have stated you know the depth to be 300mm deep. Is this a guess or confirmed depth a usually suitability is checked first before being given the go ahead. The inspection hole can be dug by yourself but will need to be confirmed by an expert as proof.
