We're looking for decking boards so checking out the past posts. didnt really want to pay that much for boards but we did cedar 12 years ago and they rotted so want something a little longer lasting. there again - I doubt we'll still be here in 10 years so I guess it doesnt have to be too long lasting.

we filled loose rockwool into the boxed area, around the pipes and double plasterboarded with usual pb and that seemed to work well.

okay, thanks. good to know the rubber seal is useful. will give complete photographs when all done. still have the rest fo the room to tile.

Well, we have the screen, bought online from Ebay company for £91. it arrived within a couple of days and looks fine. we have attached the wall trim to the wall, sealing the back with clear sealant (Sikaflex EBT). The glass appears to be held in place with a clear, plastic trim. As seen here on the right with the metal wall trim (which is now attached to the wall). Is it recommended to use this? We plan to put a bead of clear Sikaflex at the back of the wall trim before inserting the glass screen, then the clear plastic thing gets pushed in to stop the glass moving. Is that right? And what happens at the bottom of the screen where it sits on the shower tray - again, a clear bead of Sikaflex? Shower enclosure so far..

The origonal theme of Graven Hill was that all the houses would be passivhaus but as things finally got going and plots/plot passports were developed, the passivhaus aspect had mysteriously disappeared. which is a shame. well good on them! I think the first two did a great job and I liked both houses. But I agree, shame there is not a bit more detail.

They are much higher than that. these were quite reduced prices. and they have not mentioned the fact the plots are alongside the new railway line into Bicester with a sewerage works next to that. We did consider it but not once we knew the location of the first 10 plots. Although if I could have guarenteed the one furthest away from the railway line, I may have considered it. prices for the reasonably sized plots and on the edge of the develoment, which are the ons we like, are in the region of £350k!!

That looks great. I have sent a question to the seller to ask if it includes the wall mount track. And I shall definately go for the self clean types. thanks - gives me the confidence to use Ebay or Amazon.

That looks really good at £84 for the size we need. And as they have 99.8% positive feedback, I am very tempted.

The builders should be prosecuted as it is fraud but I doubt the poiice would be interested. however, it is worth pursuing and trying to get them to take action. I am sure someone with more knowledge than me shall be along soon.

The shower enclosure is now tiled and will be grouted in the next day or two. So we are looking for a shower screen. The local BM has one in their catalogue for about £350 and is 8mm thick, 1950mm high and 1000mm wide. Similar to this one. But on a couple of posts it was suggested to go to a glass merchant and get one made up. How easy is it to get the wall trim and support bars if we went down that route? Or would it be far easier to just go to the BM and order the correct one there? I have not asked for a price for just the glass but would expect it to be less that £350. any thoughts or advice?

I hadnt looked at their LED lighting as the OH would get it from his usual suppier and £59 is a silly price - He'd laugh if I told him that. yes, the trims do seem a little expensive but as anything, the price will come down as more manufactures sell them. Will let you know if we decide to encorporate them. ?

I was looking online at tile trims for the ensuite that we are renovating. I am thinking that a square edge tile trim would be nice, to make a feature of them. however, I just saw these - LED square edge tile trims! Has anyone used them and are they any good? I am wondering how they are powered? Would they need a transformer somewhere?? @Nickfromwales you recommend on this post, Ultra tilefix Pro primer. https://www.pureadhesion.co.uk/ultra-tile-proprime-it-enhanced-water-based-acrylic-primer-1-litre.html Can you tell me if you always use this and is it just to make sure the tiles dont fall off? we used Aquapanels on the walls and the Knauf website doesnt say anything about using a primer. is it 'belts and braces' or is it needed? thanks.

We got our tray in too yesterday following the advice here. although we didnt use the primer.... Cringe....? seems completely set and no movement. Now just have to decided on which tiles to use - there is too much choice! Picture to follow.....

we went for the Genisis 40mm tray (1600 x 900mm) and it is huge and weights a ton! goodness knows how we will get it up the stairs. all I know is that once it is down, it will not be coming back up again! I shall let you know what it is like once we get it fixed in place and start using it. We have to get the walls plasterboarded first and the drain hole made. then its ply, glued and screwed onto the floor before we can get the tray in. Maybe by next week......

when I mentioned RWH to an architect (in the good old days when I thought we had a plot...) he was quite dismissive of using them for the hosue toilets, even though he is veyr keen on 'eco' builds. he said in his experience with the few he knew, everyone said you spend more money on cleaning products as the toilet goes brown quicker and so it wasnt worth it. I would have liked it for the garden if nothing else but if we did it, it would be a homemade version with advice from here.

saw this at our BM and also their aquaboard - wasnt yellow so not sure if its the one recommended here. but Moistsure looked okay and was a little cheaper than the aquaboard. will get one or the other once I have decided on the tiles. Just to add to the decision making - I have been looking at those wall panels. that would be much less work for me; (I tile, he fixes wall panels....) but I'm not sure about their look. will have to take another look and make my mind up - tiles or boards. I know there are several fans of them here.

Pictures to follow as we get started on it. shower is ordered, looking at shower trays now. will use plywood, glued and screwed on top of the chipboard floor, then the tray, with flexi tile adhesive, using @Nickfromwales's CT1 method of securing. then I shall start thinking about the tiles. I'm hoping it doesnt take as long as another bathroom renovation on this site......??

What exactly do I ask for in the shop? and can I get them at any old BM?

so it looks like either; use green plasterboard and tank or use hardie or similar cement fibre baord and dont bother tanking. I think I'll got for the second option so I dont have to learn how to tank the room. I do recall @Nickfromwales saying its not as easy as it looks. thanks for all the advice. I'm sure I'll be back with more soon.??
