  1. This was the home run. The boxful already consumed weren’t shown here
  2. Still going. @Nickfromwales and @PeterW woz ‘ere.
  3. 22.50 and they are still working! Amazing! DHW is working however so we can all shower tonight! There’s more scrap now than parts salvaged lol. All shiny new stuff in its place though.
  4. Ressurection day 1 (looks more like the chainsaw massacre just now) From this: To this: Apparently these are the bits that are fecked or should never have been fitted
  5. Nearest I’ve got to the ridge is this. I know some of it is staged but still awesome!

    Hi

This was the sarking being done on my house.
  8. Mine does that too but I have separate sheets for vat shown separately, vat combined, and non claimable, then a nice pivot table at the end to show totals by category and how close to budget each category was. In terms of 'item detail' they will require this but the advice on the form is to provide the main description if the invoice covers multiple items. So 'plumbing supplies' should be ok I guess. I wasn't quite as generic as your categories however, in that I did say 'boiler' or whatever if that's what the invoice related to.
  9. I was build accountant too initially and in charge of keeping the build on budget. I did much of the ordering too, apart from stuff from the builders merchant. Worked pretty well as my OH would never have been organised enough to deal with the paperwork. Unfortunately I later became responsible for the later stages of the build too. A role I would never have chosen. Waiting to see what I get rejected by HMRC. There are 4 invoices that I don’t think they will allow; 2 because they don’t have my address on them (but they show my name), and 2 where I don’t think the items are allowable. So I will most likely be 4 down, and whatever else they decide they won’t pay out on. There were no invoices for any services so hopefully not too much will be deducted. My claim was for just over 25k. If I get just under that back I’ll be happy. So you had almost 300 invoices that weren’t for the VAT refund @HerbJ? That’s a huge number! I have less than 100 of those.
  10. That’s a great link! Would have been so useful when I was debating this with suppliers! I just paid one of them the excl vat amount and quoted the legislation at him but this would have been better all round.
  11. Thanks! They have sent me a letter asking a question about the PP and I imagine they won’t even bother to look at any invoices until they are satisfied with the answer. I haven’t heard anything more so hopefully they are busy checking that everything is in order.
  12. It’s not too bad if everything is logged. I had been checking everything as I went along so it was all pretty much ok. I just rechecked everything and then faffed around reformatting it to match the HMRC form, plus I had 3 different vat rates to faff with in the sheets where vat is not shown separately as the build had taken so long . Still waiting to hear whether I get anything back however, and how much. It’s been about 7 weeks now. I didn’t photocopy anything, just sent next day delivery before noon, but if there are any that are important that you may want to refer to for the 8 weeks plus they won’t be with you, copy those. Probably wise to copy the big ticket items too, just in case, although I didn’t TBH.
  13. OK thanks. The floor levels would have been wrong for 130mm so the timber frame would have to have been done differently I guess. Long time ago now tho (2009) and things change.
  14. I had just over 400 in total. I guess it depends how you source the materials for your house to a degree. We bought a timber frame kit with everything from roof trusses to wardrobe doors included and we only had 3 invoices from the timber frame company in total but they made up a large portion of the claim.
  15. Planning permission was 2005, building warrant 2006 (there was another house already built under the same PP and building warrant before we bought the plot). So how would things be done differently today for the floor? The foundations where already here and we just did what the UFH folk suggested re the ground floor. Couldn't work out how thick the Celotex was I couldn't find any. Thought there was some in the garage but that was Quintherm and we didn't use that for the floors. At a guess the Celotex was 50mm but can't tell for certain as the invoices are still at HMRC.
  16. Here is the floor plan that it’s based on, although the bit at the back is now ‘filled in’ as per the second drawing but the calcs didn’t include it as it was an add on.
  17. Not really and it would be great if you could write something up (in numpty language). Thank you! I did physics A level but have forgotten it all .
  18. Not sure. There is some in the garage I think. Will look tomorrow night. Here is a photo but it doesn’t give much away I think. Do you think it’s ‘off’ in an overly optimistic way or pessimistic?
  19. Standard foundations, celotex under the UFH, then anhydrite screed, timber frame, ‘supawall’ and blocks and render. So this essentially, plus render on top of the blocks.
  20. Thanks @JSHarris I will have a look. I’ve got most of the area data I think as I assume most is similar to the data in the original sheets. Just that some of it I think is wrong.
  21. @Ferdinand this is your fault as some of the things you said got me thinking more about it
  22. Does anyone have a link to an idiot proof guide to help me understand my U-Value calculations, and what ‘Ok’ might look like please. I don’t have a passive house, so it won’t be super efficient, and some of the assumptions in mine aren’t quite right I believe as surely if I have MHRV it shouldn’t say ‘ventilation natural, fans 5’ ? It also doesn’t take the extension into account either. I really just would like to form view of how my house performs, and how I might be able to calculate a revised value. I doubt I can change anything at this stage. Many thanks! Summary of mine is below.
  23. I’ll give it a miss! I can’t even cope with a jalfrezi I’ve been to India for work a few times. Struggle to eat anything as even their mild food blows ma heid off!
  24. Sorry meant best by. Tins, dried food and the like. I have been known to push use by dates too tho but just a little as I figure there is always a bit of leeway generally. I’m not one for getting sick as a rule. Until I do of course! Never push it with some fresh food tho. Depends what it is.
