  1. Fridge porn! Looks very nice! And yes re the handbags comment but that’s more than my handbag budget! Guys are much more likely to shell out on gadgets IME!
  2. And if your build is vat reclaimable the +vat bit isn’t saving you any money anyway!
  3. I read that as the discount is £280 + the vat that would have been charged on the 280 so a discount of £280 but @pocster would actually pay £336 less? A moot point maybe given that @pocster is telling them where to go.
  4. That seems fair enough lol. I always seem to return from the supermarket with stacks of multi buy offers and try to freeze the rest given that there’s only me here. I often chuck stuff out or give it to the dogs to make room for new stuff. It’s that Venus vs Mars thing again I reckon . I don’t have an American fridge freezer. I have 2 integrated fridge freezers and a separate integrated fridge. Freezer space is more important to me than fridge space so one of the fridge freezers should have been a full height freezer probably. I have to have a separate freezer for my dogs’ food too.
  5. Yeah wine. Grape juice init! ??
  6. One of these and no need to finish your shower ?
  7. Ha ha, yeah not only do the bastards rip you off with mega tax up here you can't even drown your sorrows in some cheap 'Frosty Jack's get pissed quick' cider. Gone up from £3 to £11 from today. Will be going on a booze cruise to Berwick as needed
  8. Yes but if the company uses a third party to collect the payment you’re not covered. A bit like PayPal but not so obvious. Cunning stunts . Not sure how many companies do that in truth though.
  9. Did you turn into Baldrick?
  10. I think in theory if you pay any amount on a credit card (not via PayPal) you would be covered for the full amount but I would want to pay £100 or more to make absolutely sure personally. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases#deposit
  11. Fingers crossed for the cream! Pink would work though I think if you get the right shade. Out of interest if you don’t mind sharing what sort of budget do you have for the whole build? It’s circa the same size as mine but much more modern, but the layout isn’t a million miles off. I have an upstairs seating area in the middle like you do for example. Yours is the sort of house we would have liked to build if planning had allowed us to. There is a Swiss chalet style house behind me that is pretty much all glass windows and looks like nothing else round here but we weren’t allowed the style of windows that you have ‘as it would spoil the cottagy look’! Believe me there is nothing cottagy about this house. We tried a couple of times and gave up. Ultramods after band? Lots of F words lol.
  12. Of course they do . Even if you pay a deposit >= £100 you will be protected.
  13. I would tell them that you will either accept a full refund and will order the new sizes from them, or you will be progressing a small claim. Do they not accept credit card?
  14. Ah well try not to sweat the small stuff. It’s a minor irritation at a time of great triumph for you so don’t let the little things spoil the massive achievement of having got this far, and your new life about to start. And this will be fixable (by someone better ).
  15. Is that so you can torch it when you get fed up?
  16. Are you the red square in a sea of cream?
  17. What pink granite are you using? As in the actual colour of that?
  18. Given you are going to have the most contemporary house in the area maybe you'll get away with something a bit more contemporary as far as the pink scheme goes? As in the whitest pink or maybe something with a pink / grey feel? I would probably go for RAL 7016 for the rest I think. Can you get the colour palate into a picture so that you can see the difference more easily? I love the style of your house BTW.
  19. Ah yes, I can see the blocks now in the pink. Pity they didn't just continue with the other stone as it looks much nicer. Your house is really quite non traditional compared to the other one. Are there any others like it on the site?
  20. They do already. A delight you are yet to experience!
  21. C**khead told me how much he earned while he was here. He said that he earned much more than me which was interesting as he had no idea what job I even did much less what I earned! F**kin weirdo! Unfortunately at that point I still thought he knew what he was doing. Sadly I was mistaken ......
  22. Well from start to finish. There was initial plumbing guy who did the first fix plumbing. Then kept letting us down again and again for second fix so we moved onto plumber number 2. Then there was solar man who came and installed the solar thermal and connected it up. All of the heating and DHW was connected up wrong by that point . Then there were 3 plumbers who came out and fecked around with the heating to get it working (or making it steadily worse as it turns out). C**khead was the worst. Then there was the plumber who came out to do the drain pressure test for the council. He was pretty good as it happens and didn't rip me off like some of the others. Then @Nickfromwales and @PeterW came up and actually did get it working ?. Now I need a solar guy to come and sort something out there so we shall see if I get someone. The whole thing has been a nightmare!
  23. There's an opening for plumbers in Scotland @Nickfromwales. I'm sure you would be understood eventually . Can't get plumbers here (or tilers) for love nor money!
  24. What are they going to do with the derelict buildings? Convert them into something? I like the stonework on the new house but the render is a bit ... well pink, especially round the bay windows and it's not really anything like the old building. I know conservation officers can be a tad pedantic though.
  25. Plus if it's the accessible entrance it has to be mega level - Borders Council is very hot on that.
