Solar PV and hot Water Diverter - Advice
bob the builder 2 replied to bob the builder 2's topic in General Plumbing
Thanks All Any recommendation for those 3 phase diverters would be greatly appreciated thanks bob -
Hi All I am just about to press the button and order a 10kwh solar set up The cost of batteries and fancy inverter are making me think that a hot water diverter and simple inverter might be a better investment. I have been quoted for an ERS mini ( E.R.S Mini 3kW Solar Power Diverter | PowerFlow (powerflowenergy.com) which will connect to the immersion about 2 3rds up the tank As i am on a 3 phase and the tank immersion is limited to 2kw per phase i am ging forced to buy three of the diverters Would appreciate any advice Bob with

bob the builder 2 replied to bob the builder 2's topic in Floor Tiles & Tiling
Hi All here is a sanp the concrete is quite ruff but only 5mm out in a few places (its a new raft floor) the tiles are 1.2 x 1.2m so large Do you think i can just get away with the adhesive or should i be levelling as the tiler suggests thanks -

Hi The surface i rough and about 5mm out in some places (dips around doors etc) where the concrete went down uneven. I really don't want to / cant afford to have 160m2 of work done if i can get away without it. If there something i can do myself like a bit of self leveling if required ? thanks -
Do i need to level floor before tiling ?
bob the builder 2 replied to bob the builder 2's topic in Floor Tiles & Tiling
Hi Nod That's what i was lead to believe - the tile has about 10-12mil bed and this would be more than enough to even things out. I wonder if this is the tilers just trying to sell another service and also make life easier for themselves ? Bob -
Hi All We have a raft foundation concrete slab which is a bit ruff and uneven due to rain during the pour (about 5mm out in places) The idea was to tile straight onto the concrete but the tiler has now said they want to put latex down to level before tiling partly because the tiles are large format. Obviously this was not in the budget ! Any views on this being required or alternatives to latex would be gratefully received Bob

At the moment the frame is covered in a silver membrane - its peppered with staples. nails holding battens for the cladding etc etc It seems the water is just getting in and running down to the bottom of the frame cassette and into the inside of the house. We have lifted the silver membrane up at the bottom of the outside and placed a DCP under about 300mm and draped it out beyond the sole plate and onto the concrete footings (600mm in total) Rain has been bad but not feeling too confident to rely on the cladding / brickwork to solve this in the long term as any rain getting in in the future would be straight under the flooring / plasterboard. thoughts / ideas welcome
-
Thanks all so speaking to the frame company they are saying the external membrane is not water proof and advised to get the cladding / brick on (not very helpful) I wonder if there are any ideas about sealing the base of the frame to the concrete behind the DPC ? Should i just put expanding foam or silicone ? Thanks

Hi All I know it has rained for the last month but i am really struggling to keep water out of my timber frame. We have the windows in and roof dry / DCP attached under the VCL over the footings. Copious amounts of taping around windows and any loose elements of the VLC don't seem to be doing the trick. It seems the water hitting the outside of the frame is getting under the sliver VCL and pooling on the concrete floor. Any ideas on how to stem the tide greatly received. bob

Hi All About to sort out the render board on the garage wall The garage is the same build up as the timber frame (MBC VCL membrane to outer edge) with a pitched slate roof. I would be grateful for any recommendations for the render board and render - currently considering aqua panel and K rend. Many thanks Bob
