a new form of heat exchange equipment?
SteamyTea replied to Adsibob's topic in Energy Efficient & Sustainable Design Concepts
I am always amazed how little fat there is in our extraction system. The baffles on the ranges seem to do their job, even though they seem very basic in design and are probably not really designed, more guessed at. We probably though away 40 MWh of energy a night though the extractor. -

It is always worth checking a products name. From now on I shall call it the kiddy findler. Le Pedo, my arse. -
If you bridge over the ground stump/root combo with a bit of rebarred concrete, that would support most things. I think it is what they used to do to cap mineshafts down here. Now they put a metal cage over them. Then send the dogs down. https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/dogs-rescued-after-falling-porkellis-8123356.amp

ICF How much more expensive ?
SteamyTea replied to Dave Jones's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Every place I have ever lived in that had plastered solid walls, all had cracks in them. Some had bulging plaster. So I would not think the long term airtightness is going to be brilliant. But no need to worry, people will quote the ACH figures from the testing date. -

Yes. I had Lego, and Meccano sets as a kid. There was never enough to make anything interesting. To make something required also buying the next kit up. I never understood why people don't build a stick build shed, them make TF modules in it. But then I am always amazed that people think spending 100 quid making a flat, 8 by 4 table is a waste of money and prefer to scrabble around in the mud, with a hand saw.
