Sjk
I suspect I may need to hire a land surveyor, however is there a way to measure a mAOD with basic (ish) equipment? Google isnt giving anything away. Thanks
PeterW
Find an ordnance marker and work from there using a stick and a spirit level ..? or someone with a Citroen C3 Cactus as the sat nav does a pretty accurate level as long as you want the closest metre... MikeSharp01
If you can find an OS marker you can see from the plot you could shoot at it with a total station. Otherwise get a GPS app for your mobile phone and use that.

Sjk
Cheers chaps, it looks like I’ll need a pro as the measurement need to be to the cm, the gps equipment is hugely expensive. Edited February 24, 2019 by Sjk
TerryE
There's nothing in the planning regs that says that you have to add to your site levels back to an ordnance survey datum. Have a look at other local planning applications. We just use a nominal datum on the street level. At the end of the day, the planners is just want to be confident that the as-built levels are accurate and as designed relative to this street front. Set up a "Temporary Bench Mark" which was just a row of nails hammered in to form a line on a fence post at the highest point on the site, from where laser level datums could be measured. All site spot heights were then just referenced to that temporary bench mark.

You can easily get this precision to a local datum with a Dumpy.
