Onoff
I've borrowed a Makita palm sander that takes 114x140mm sanding sheets. What's the norm with these, buy individual sheets or get it on a roll and cut your own? And if individual sheets where best to buy them? Cheers
Barney12
That's a 1/4 size. (Standard sheet is 280x230mm) But does that size allow for clamping (I don't know the model of sander) or do you need hook and loop for that size? if to use the clamp you need longer then rolls is the way to go. If for general use there is nothing wrong with Flexovit. http://www.toolstation.com/search?searchstr=33731 43484 11819 40207
Barney12
If you need something more "refined" for joinery work etc then you can't really beat SIA 1960 or 1919 http://www.draketooling.co.uk/Products/abrasives_sanding_rolls_1960 the 50m roles are actually good value considering the quality. Nickfromwales
I just buy the rolls and then you can use it for hand or tool sanding. Cutting to size takes no time at all, so more cost effective IMHO.

daiking
The only advantage I've found with proper sander sheets is the pre punched holes for vacuum extraction - if you're using it.

My palm sander has a hole punch plate so I can punch my own in cut sheets.

SteamyTea
Too late, but I always buy rolls, so you made the right decision.

Not at all, in my world I probably haven't started the job yet! Actually it was for the tree house spiral stairs which are about 90% done.....the stairs that is, not the whole tree house!
