Dave Jones Posted yesterday at 10:59 Posted yesterday at 10:59 yesterday was hottest day of year for us 34C outside the ASHP in cooling mode consumed 8.78 KWH in the 24 hour period. Given the solar was 30kwh still a very large surplus. Can't beat free cooling.

This is something I didn’t consider at the time - as there was no perceived need . Now though I would suggest it . Like everyone our ‘ground floor’ gets very hot especially as lots of glass facing south . Below ground always 3 degrees cooler . I just put fans in bedrooms - appreciate they don’t cool the air - but it’s acceptable. If these type of summers persist then simply portable ac in each room ( not the true vented ones though ) 1

Our basement is always nice and cool too.

Right now it’s 32 outside, 23.5 in the double aspect - lots of glass - kitchen and 22.8 in the shaded hallway. No cooling of any description apart from running around to open doors and windows when it cools down at night and leaving the safe ones open all night before running around and closing everything up in the morning when the outside temperature exceeds the inside temp. Also MVHR on minimum during the hot day and maximum over the cooler night. 1

I find leaving a hot commercial kitchen after serving up 200 meals helps. 30+°C seems cool sometimes. Edited yesterday at 18:57 by SteamyTea
