Hello, so we really need a floor. Every night our dog goes for a swim in the local river then comes in so we need a waterproof floor.

We liked this spc, walnut kinda look to it and can get it for 21 per sq m in the morning (down from 29)

But our building control officer does things by the book, no shortcuts. Do you think the levels on these 4 external doors would pass? (there is a granny annexe) Mums front door is the green one and its supposed to be accessible.

I think they are all ok apart from the green door and perhaps we could just get threshold ramps to make it work?

Of more concern is the bottom of the staircase. I think the 6mm flooring is still going to leave the first step too high compared to all the rest. We have underfloor heating. I wonder what can we do to get around this, I guess build a step or ramp and the bottom of the steps?

I pointed out that our daughter lives in a RedRow that has level access threshold With two 100 mil flag steps leading to it

She laughed and said I’m friends with your daughter and live on the same estate 😁

Thing is, this seems the most water resistant choice possible. Is there really a waterproof option? The joins in click are always going to be dodgy. We have a dog who swims in the river every day and an alzheimers patient who spills everything possible. I suppose we could go for tiles but they are hard and unforgiving plus we need to do this ourselves so having never tiled before or put wooden floors down, click seemed the less challenging. Floor is too wide for vinyl sheets and the only other thing is resin which is a bit cosmic and eye wateringly expensive.

Have a towel by the door, dry the dog before they come into the house? We always wipe the dogs feet and dry off if wet. The dog now expects it, waiting outside until told to come in. Also have a carpet runner or floor mat that doesn't show to many marks at the door.

Then put some proper wooden floor down, that can be glued to the screed, so you get decent heat transfer from your UFH.

I appreciate anyone loving wood more,I do myself. That said the heat transfer thing did swing me.

UFH is different from radiators, it doesn't need to be a fast reactive heat. Well insulated air tight houses don't need rapid heat transfer.

The heat from the slab (assuming very good insulation levels underneath) WILL heat the house, if it take 4 hours longer the first time the heating comes on so what?  save your money and worry about something else

Suspect the thermal transfer is actually similar compared to wooden floor glued down with no air pockets. Compared to SPC that is floating and with the underlay.

All 4 doors don't have to pass. You only need one accessibility door. So all criteria needs to accessed including what's outside. We also have many doors and all are flush thresholds. But only the front door is the accessibility door for building regs
