Multiple subs allows evenness of bass without any 'boomy' areas and flat spots, and you can run both at a reduced volume, so ideal for houses with neighbours joined on like me. I did have 2 subs, and they were amazing, but one broke, so back down to one now, you can definitely tell the difference.

I could absolutely skin you @Pocster this thread has caused me to look at newer better speakers to go with my dinosaur TV, and i've been unfortunate to find the Monitor Audio Apex range 🫢 I am resisting though!!

Don’t think I can convince SWMBO on another sub after my £800 purchase ( cough cough ) . But I will help you ! . Your speakers are shite , your amp is shite , your tv is shite . So yes upgrade !

Atmos from dodgy online company due June 23rd apparently. Need to still tweak base - causing fatigue when it’s low and boomy . Believe I need to look at crossover stuff so chat tells me …

Good stuff.

If you place your single sub carefully then it’s generally fine. It’s worth trying different positions for the sub. Remember the sub should be relatively subtle.

Too right, The Queensway Club was one of the best there was in West London.

How times have changed.

This guy helped me get my rocks off (sauna ones) at the Lingfield Club in Swiss Cottaging.

I got dialogue clear and surround sound good ( you can hear it’s behind you ! ) but it all sounded ‘flat’ . Couldn’t work it out . Bern fiddling for hours .

Then I turned off multieq xt32 …. Boom !!

I’ve got a Marantz AVR, and found that I had to set dynamic compression to low, any other setting and it sounds rubbish

Hmmmmmm

ok issues !

Previously had a Samsung q990c soundbar , Apple TV , ps5 etc plugged directly into Awol 3500pro projector ( soundbar on earc connection ) no issues .

Now we get a fairly frequent loss of signal with everything going through the denon …

Google suggests turning off cec on everything so we are back to juggling remotes . Improves the situation .

But still does it . We are talking mid streaming so no hdmi negotiation on different content format .

Google tells me get new certified hdmi leads . I’ll do that

But I’m somewhat unconvinced that the issue is hdmi handshake when I’ve had countless items connected with frankly any old hdmi lead I have around working flawlessly .

Google then tells me this issue is common amongst AVC’s - not just denon … wtf !

Interesting, I also have this same issue, started around 12months after i got it, I call it a glitch, sometimes doesn't happen at all, other times screen goes black, multi coloured etc, and then comes back, lasts 1sec max. They took it in for repair, replaced the entire mainboard, couldn't replicate issues their end, still does it here. Just said it was some kind of incompatibility on my dinosaur TV, odd as it worked fine to start with, and the TV with my TV recorder box directly connected worked without issue. I guess it could be firmware related, but i just live with it, doesn't both me too much.

Yeah this kind of issue is surprisingly common . Genuinely changing the hdmi leads to certified ones ( not just ones that say 2.1 ) solves it a good few times . But as I’ve spent a chunk of cash here I do expect the picture to be maintained for the length of the movie .

You'll get used to it. My AVR was around £600 when i bought it, was rather annoyed at first for the same reason, and my old Denon never did it. I found changing the HDMI port i was using on the TV reduced its occurrence, I have 1 and 2 together, and 3 is separate, so assuming 3 takes a different route, and this one exhibits the issue the least.

I won’t get use to it . All new kit shouldn’t happen 🫤

I've got a very low opinion of technology, have to work with the damned stuff every day! If its a computer, or has a computer in it, its bound to go wrong.

Can you switch to plugging the devices into your TV and using eARC to connect your AVR? ARC isn't good enough for Atmos but eARC on newer TVs is.

Once new hdmi’s are in if I still have issues then that was my plan . So all devices into projector then projector earc to denon - worth a shot

I’ve never had this happen with any AVR. In fact the way I’m doing it at the moment is sub-optimal as I have the Firestick plugged into the Denon rather than the telly and the Denon is connected to the telly using two random HDMI cables and a powered splitter. This is because both really expensive HDMI cables routed inside the wall somehow got damaged so neither work.

Check that HDCP is set the same on every device. If it’s on auto  manually change it.

There’s a lot going on with a modern AVR/telly or projector and various input devices. Handshaking between them can be a PIA unfortunately.

Hdcp effectively copy protection . What am I checking where ?

My TV has zero options for HDCP settings, nor does the AVR, must all be auto negotiated.

TV is HDMI 1.3, but its so old it doesn't even have a USB port, or any network connectivity! lol. It does have a DB9 serial port though!!

Yeah you need a new tv ! You know that … and speakers …. Your SWMBO said it was ok to spend the £££££

I thought it was strange that everything according to the instructions plugs into the denon and that outputs to the projector . I assumed the denon acts as just an amp - not sure what image processing it does if any . Appletv , ps5 can upscale etc themselves .

I have read that a vertex2 ( £400 ! ) can sort dodgy handshake from any avc to the screen / projector.

AVRs have a long historical legacy of functions that often upgraders want to preserve. If you have a modern setup that supports eARC and don't plan on using multi-room or multi-output (switching between TV + projector) features then I suspect eARC is the way to go. Avoids a lot of the potential issues. Main downside is you have to have the TV/projector switched on for audio only from one of your sources if this is something you want to do.

That all sounds good too me . In the same room I have a pair of Dali Oberon c’s for music listening - so projector on for tv and gaming .

Decided to do Appletv straight into projector . Switch 2 and ps5 still into denon ( not tested either of those yet ) . Time to put a movie on 😊 🍿🥤

Guess what whilst fiddling made it blackout on signal loss . Also great fun swapping from hdmi 2 to view and 1 just so I can see the denon overlays !!! 🫤
