iMCaan Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) Hi We are considering laying herringbone design LVT on first floor of our self build house. What would be the ideal direction of the herringbone in hallway and from hallway into bedrooms? Option A, B, C or D (something different) Thanks Edited December 13, 2024 by iMCaan
nod Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Ideally you want the points of the pattern facing you as you come through the door

cwr Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 I think I would go 'A', as I think it would suit the room shapes and also be continuous between rooms with no joins. But that's just my take, others may prefer other approaches. We had herringbone continuous through several rooms, aligned it centrally in the biggest room, and the rest were dictated by that. More than happy with it. Why don't you get a few boxes and lay some and play about with it?
Conor Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 A for the win. It all has to be the same direction, minimise or eliminate joins. We have 75m² of herringbone laminate , all centred and continuous from the front door.
bassanclan Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 If you are wanting to put the exact same flooring throughout then A. If you are using different flooring in bedroom to landing you could make an argument for B/C, but it might look too busy
JohnMo Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 As long as always in the same direction. So 'A'
iMCaan Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 Apologies for late reply. Thank you for the suggestions. It looks option A it is.
