Fulltopuk Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Hello all New to self build and have a plot with permission for a replacement house. We (my wife and I) are currently looking at an oak frame build. Hopefully we can get some useful information from others and can also provide some to newbies too. Thanks Richard 2

Mangle will have to do for me. Still @SteamyTea and @Pocster will doubtless soon pile in with their take(s) on the matter of how we can make a hash of poor newbie @Fulltopuk's innocence. For me, there are just too many permutations .... I mean just imagine how a proper Lancastrian could mangle the screen name

Malapropism is using the wrong word, usually to comic effect, so I may just fade into Bolivian. 2
Iceverge Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Welcome. Oak frame. It's lovely. Not the easiest to get really well insulated though. You'll need some external insulation over the frame of some sort. SIPs are the norm. Not a huge fan of them through.
